ELECTION: Lonergan’s leadership skills needed

Letter by Marian A. Hinds, Steilacoom on July 30, 2012 at 11:46 am with 5 Comments »

I voted for Mike Lonergan for Pierce County assessor-treasurer because I am confident he will do an outstanding job. This office has been in a turmoil for several years because of poor judgment and leadership ability. We need a qualified person like Lonergan to restore order and good management to this office.

Lonergan has demonstrated leadership skills developed during 12 years as executive director of the Tacoma Rescue Mission; this will put him in good stead to manage the important office of county assessor-treasurer.

Lonergan has the support of elected officials in Pierce County and has received the sole, unanimous endorsement of the Pierce County Republican Party. I’m certain others will appreciate, as I do, his stand for the rights of the individual and for constitutional limits on the power of government.

  1. Lonergan and his idiot son have no business being in an elected office. You all deserve what you get. Fairness is not in their vocabulary.

  2. Pecksbadboy says:

Marian favors “good ole boy” politics in Tacoma which means you don’t mind getting lied to on a regular basis or are not smart enough to realize you are.

  3. Where do you get your information? Are you just a shill for the campaign? How in the world can you write a letter to be published in the newspaper over your name with such blatantly false statements?

Please direct me to ANY links that show “turmoil” in the assessor-treasurer’s office. I doubt even Sean Robinson would make such a claim and he is no buddy of current management there.

This is what is wrong with Lonergan for this office – he cannot run on his own record. He attacks the current office holder constantly without telling anybody what it is that is wrong with the office and what he will do to correct it.

I submit that he does this because he knows the truth – that somebody who is not well liked in the political world has actually cleaned up the mess in that office. Lonergan is looking to pad his PERS account despite term limits, and nothing more.

You should attend a few county council meetings once in awhile. Washam recently praised his employees profusely in remarks to the council. It was quite a contrast to the conventional wisdom. It also directly contradicts your letter’s assertion.

  4. Pecksbadboy says:

Ms Hinds is part of the “Old Boy Network” of Tacoma, WA state and Federal grant money.

Her “charity” teaches phonics to children on the hilltop to keep them from being violent

    Heck no.. No way.
