All Americans have been shocked, angered and saddened by the recent murders in Colorado. Twelve innocent people were murdered and scores more injured.
Now imagine your emotional condition if you lived in Syria, where the Assad regime has been murdering its own citizens at the rate of 1,000 people per month, sometimes hundreds in a single day. On a per capita basis, compared to America, the equivalent would be 450 per day, every day for 18 months.
In the 20th century, the Western countries stood by and did nothing as tyrannical regimes in Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union and Communist China murdered their own citizens by the millions. The excuse was that it was impolite to interfere in the internal affairs of another country. The result was war that killed millions and destroyed the lives of countless others.
How many more Syrian civilians will be murdered by the Assad regime before the so-called developed countries – the ones that pride themselves on being civilized, cultured and politically correct – can muster the fortitude to end the daily massacres?
