ELECTION: Taxpayer funds help buy the election

Re: “Don’t let Romney buy presidency” (letter, 7-20).

I find the accusation that Mitt Romney is buying the election amusing, even though he cannot hold a candle to his opponent. Barack Obama is a master at buying votes. The votes of literally millions of people are bought simply by giving them food, medical care, housing and education benefits at taxpayer expense. Few bite the hand that feeds them.

Obama uses Air Force One, with taxpayers picking up the bulk of the tab, as he raises funds and campaigns. Then consider how he blatantly buys the votes of huge voting blocs simply by a stroke of the pen.

I ask, who is really buying the presidency? Many are concerned that Obama is blatantly abusing presidential power and using taxpayer dollars to buy votes. I particularly resent the fact that he is using my hard-earned dollars to do it.
