MARRIAGE: Join states affirming tradition

Letter by Grant O. Pelesky, Puyallup on July 16, 2012 at 9:56 am with 28 Comments »
July 16, 2012 2:41 pm

The preamble to the Washington Constitution reads: “We the people of Washington State, grateful to the Supreme Ruler of the Universe for our liberties, do ordain this Constitution.

It is my observation that the Supreme Ruler of the Universe arranged things such that only a man and a woman have the ability to populate the earth. Perhaps he is telling us something regarding marriage.

Thirty-two states have allowed their citizenry to vote on this issue, and all 32 have declared by popular majority that marriage should remain a union between one man and one woman.

Seems the Supreme Ruler of the Universe, along with We the People of the United States, should add Washington to the list of those who think traditional marriage makes for a more perfect union.

  1. truthbusterguy says:

We will be the 33rd state to reject perverse forms of marriage. I don’t have a major problem with gay marriage. What I don’t like is the gay lobby and the democrats jamming this law down the throats of the people like they did last legislative session. Hope people remember that Seaquist and Kilmer did not get a free pass for this vote and joined their liberal buddies to pass this law.

  2. Theefrinker says:

Reproductive functionality and marriage are two completely separate topics Grant.

  3. surething says:

    SMH.

  4. LeePHill says:

Grant – I don’t care what your mythical God says

  5. LeePHill says:

all 32 have declared by popular majority that marriage should remain a union between one man and one woman

    Even if they are cousins

  6. I’m all for traditional marriage. I don’t see anything in the law allowing same sex marriage forbiding traditional marriage.

I’ll vote in favor of traditional marriage and same sex marriage.

  7. sandblower says:

Grant, please show us the supreme ruler of the universe otherwise your letter is simple nonsense.
A photo would be nice for instance.

  8. MyBandito says:

Grant, Your supreme ruler and my supreme ruler need to talk.

  9. Produce the memo, in the Supreme Ruler’s handwriting, stating that only one man and one woman can get a license to get married.

And by the way “Supreme Ruler” is gender neutral.

  10. surething says:

Sandblower, I am sick and tired of you taking the words right out of my mouth. lol :)

  11. It wasn’t too long ago that men and women of different races were not permitted to marry! White only water fountains! Whites sit in front of the bus! White only restaurants! Yep, the majority has an impeccable record of granting every one equal rights and protection under the constitution of the United States of America.

  12. bobcat1a says:

SROTU and I were talking the other day and IT told me IT is getting rather tired of people trying to put words in IT’s mouth. Wise up people, the SROTU is not happy with all the people who claim to know IT’s mind.

  13. Grant – I think we should vote if you should be allowed to write any more letters to the editor. I’m sure the Supreme Ruler of the Universe would agree.

  14. TBG,
How pathetic that you won’t express your true feelings about same-sex marriage but have to blame those a third party for your faults.

When it comes to ‘jamming laws down throats’ you forget the Republican credo ‘Compromise is the other side agreeing to do it our way.’

    All,
Only verse in the Bible that I know of that addresses marriage between a man and a woman simple says the woman shall live with her husband.

  15. vickistired says:

Please tell me this man is not still teaching.

  16. charliebucket says:

vicki I don’t know if he (Grant Pelesky) is still teaching but I know that if he ever runs for political office again he is not getting my vote.

yikes. I think I may have voted for him in the past. blech.

  17. When Pelesky taught in the Puyallup District he did not send his kids to public school.

  18. Grant – you and your mythic space ghost supreme ruler, or whatever you want to call it, should go commune by yourselves and leave the rest of us out of your sordid little seance. Old men wrote strange stories in books that were subsequently hand-selected, reviewed and modified, and now people like you think those man-written words were actually written by Space Ghost. When you write a letter, is it God’s penmanship on the page? I don’t need your wizards and warlock’s version of what makes right or wrong – I’ve got it taken care thank you very much

  19. SandHills says:

While I am firmly on one side of the fence on this issue, I can see some aspects of homosexuality that may have a growing acceptance in the future. As there is a growing division of haves and have nots, it may not take long for an acceptance of polygamy in the U.S. (even if a Morman doesn’t become president). And the rich can afford their own harems, leaving a shortage of available women – kind of like prison.

I had thought the only aspect of homosexual couples was as another form of birth control – but we are now seeing gay couples having children by surrogates or artificially insemination.

I wonder if there has been a study about this in China – with their birth control program producing more boy babies than girls (some of which ended up at the bottom of deep wells) – or say Saudi Arabia, where the Royal Sauds do have their harems and the average poor guy has a very shallow pool of attractive females available.

  20. CrazyJim says:

I’m for making sure all families are important.

  21. SwordofPerseus says:

Grand said, “It is my observation that the Supreme Ruler of the Universe arranged things such that only a man and a woman have the ability to populate the earth.” By those same observations, Grant, one could conclude that rats also have the ability to populate the earth, so what?

It is my observation that the supreme ruler of the universe has been on sabbatical since the formation of our solar system some 4 billion years ago. The supreme ruler of the universe wouldn’t even know what a human is, we’re just accidents of evolution…lol ;P+<

  22. SOP,
In ther words the Supreme Clock Maker created us and left us to work things out on our own.

  23. My family came to this country to flee religious persecution and escape the tyranny of the masses. Why did your family come to America?

  24. averageJose says:

I’ve said all along that if “we the people” of this state vote on it and homo-sexual marriage passes I’d accept it as law.
Just as long as they don’t find extra ballots in someone’s trunk and animals and dead people don’t vote.

  25. LeePHill says:

Jose…the Democrats will make the majority of the voters turn “gay for a day” to create the majority vote. It starts with a heavy dose of Liza Minelli and Cher recordings…..

Since Dino Rossi isn’t running for office this time (please say I’m right), we won’t be having James O’Keefe dress up like a dog and say (bark) that he registered to vote with ACORN.

I’ll be glad when “we, the people” recognize conservatism as the mental disease it is and takes away the CON right to vote.

  26. LeePHill says:

    “lnubav says:

If your family is gay, or has gay members, you chose wrong.

  27. averageJose says:

DB set on high so early Larry? Kooky.

  28. averageJose says:

Yea, if your family is gay you should have chose a country where Islam is the ruling religion.
