JUSTICE: Accusations were poorly investigated

Re: “Case against JBLM officer falls apart” (TNT, 6-9).

What in the world has happened to responsible prosecution? How sad is it that an officer serving in our military is accused of horrific acts against others and felony charges are filed before it is properly investigated.

If all it took was checking phone records to determine that the allegations against him by a female accuser were not sufficient to take the case forward, why not do that prior to filing the charges? In the meantime, the man suffers the humiliation of being put into jail, escorted by military police and denied access to his children for at least a couple of months.

Additionally, he has his name blasphemed in the media and who knows what professional ramifications there are for this, not to mention putting him at a disadvantage in his contentious custody battle.

I don’t know any of these people, yet it makes me thoroughly disgusted, just on the basis of inappropriate use of power. Isn’t it time that we become accountable for these kinds of actions?

And what about the woman who made these false allegations? Is there legal recourse for holding her accountable for this? We need to have consequences for people who completely ruin the reputations of others based on false accusations of criminal behavior. It is incomprehensible.

The media (TNT, especially) has spanked the tallywhacker of the Military so hard and so often, that the military, driven by public affairs in DC, are trying to CYA ASAP.
