Re: “2 health care providers sanctioned” (TNT, 4-22).
I was quite disappointed to read two nurses’ names and the allegations against them. This was followed with the Web address and phone number to report medical professionals’ behavior.
This information has been misused by the public so many times and has created chaos and havoc in many medical professionals’ lives because someone who dislikes that individual has reported them to the state Department of Health.
If there is an issue with a nurse, the employer reports them. Laymen do not always understand the medical profession and report an individual, which may lead to a lengthy investigation. During that time it causes the individual psychological harm which may never be resolved.
Once a complaint has been reported against a nurse, it will sit on that individual’s license for 75 years. Those of us who have a medical license have worked extremely long and hard to achieve this. Publishing the information on how to report a license has put all of us in further jeopardy even when we practice within our scope.
Too many people report over and over because it is their right to remain anonymous. This action causes increased man hours to investigate the individual, costing taxpayer dollars.
