Having a flagpole in front of the University Place Civic Center takes away from the beauty of the duck sculpture, to the point where we cannot, as a community, “enjoy” that pierce of art? Why should our nation’s symbol, which is in front of nearly every city hall and public building in the country, be considered of less civic importance than the duck sculpture?

With respect to the Reim family, it is the American flag that should be proudly displayed and not the duck, which should be moved inside the building or to another location.

Raise the flag! Move the duck!
