CHAMBERS BAY: Visitors might be here anyway

Re: “It’s about more than golf” (letter, 2-23).

The letter writer attempts to make a point about how much out-of-town visitors playing at Chambers Bay golf course contribute in taxes each year. He suggests that the golfer from Chicago might be asked what hotel he stayed in, where he ate his meals, if he rented a car.

The pertinent question is, “Was his (and other visitors’) primary reason for being in town or staying longer to play the Chambers Bay golf course?” If not, the writer’s point is muted.

  1. falkoja6 says:

The letter is so biased… look who wrote it.

  2. Nobody from Chicago will take the effort to pack and ship his or her clubs for a trip to the Tacoma area and not intend to play golf.
The letter is a stupid attempt to denigrate a great facility with a great benefit for everyone who can think beyond the second grade level.

  3. aislander says:

If the point were “muted,” it would never have been made, but, given the state of public education, I guess that is moot…

  4. fanciladi says:

Yes, I noticed who wrote that letter defending the golf course… A lot of $$$ was diverted to the golf course from where it was already headed.

I think John will be defending that golf course forever…it was his baby! My hope for we taxpayers sake he is right…but, that doesn’t seem to be the case ‘yet’!

Someone I know had a word with him once about something and John said to him, “do you know who I am?”…of course, he knew who he was… Is that a question someone who isn’t wrapped up in himself asks a person??? Vision into his personality…at least at that moment!
