PSE: Proposed increase bigger than you think

Puget Sound Energy has proposed an electrical rate increase of 8.08 percent, but it neglected to state that it is also raising the basic service fee from $7.25 a month to $7.83 a month – an 8 percent increase. If you also figure in the state and federal taxes which increase along with the higher base fees, you get a much bigger bite.

Last year the Utilities and Transportation Commission got 187 emails, all of which were against the rate increase, but the UTC approved it anyway. Makes you wonder who the UTC is really working for. These are the same people who will be deciding this upcoming rate increase as well.
