DSHS: Father’s visits should have been on neutral ground

Once again the Department of Social and Health Services proves that it is an agency that should be thoroughly investigated. A person who is the only person of interest in his wife’s disappearance is allowed near his children in a so-called supervised visit at his house and not at a secure location?

All meetings should have been on neutral ground and supervised by two people who were schooled in self-defense. DSHS now says there will be a formal investigation and review. Tell that to Charlie and Braden. The investigating should have been before the fact and two little boys would still be with their loving grandparents.

My prayers go out to the entire Cox family. I cannot imagine how they feel at this time. My heart also goes out to the first responders who witnessed this terrible event.

Here are some highlights from Seattle paper that should make you feel good Pierce County:

“So instead of allowing him to regain custody of his children, Judge Kathryn Nelson ordered a psycho-sexual evaluation for Powell.

“They are highly intrusive,” says Pierce Co. Prosecutor Mark Lindquist. “They go on for several hours. The subject’s entire life history is studied. The subject’s entire sexual history is studied. The subject undergoes a personality test and all of this is done with a polygraph.”

Lindquist says the court-ordered evaluation was a “lose-lose” for Powell.

SO WHY ALLOW POWELL VISITS WITH HIS SONS? When law enforcement and prosecutors says he is a threat, but allow the father to see his children, we ask… who are protecting our children if not law enforcement, the prosecutor or DSHS than who?

I am sure there are plenty of documents from Pierce County to Salt Lake City on this case…including the porno bit. Let’s hope they don’t start shredding documents…the same office that gave Sheriff French a couple weeks on his yacht for kiddy porn. The entire judicial system needs an evaluation.

Why allow a single person to go into a private home? That is a danger for that worker and for the children, this being a perfect example. He could have easily let her in and hacked and burned her too.
