In America, black citizens vote in vast majorities traditionally for the Democratic Party rather than the Republican Party. I think it is because the Democrats always offer them money and ” fairness,” even though every time Democrats are in the ruling majority, the poverty and dependency of black and white citizens alike only seem to increase.
The Republican Party encourages work, freedom and opportunity for growth by personal means, while it was the Democrats who offer dependency and reliance on government.
Democrats stand for things that tend to go against basic Christian morals. They are for gay marriage and, for the most part, actively promote it. They are for abortion. They tend to be anti-Christian in regards to displaying Scripture and crosses in public places, while at the same time, they tolerate other religions, even promoting their teachings in the public schools.
Not many blacks in America have escaped the “plantation” to be on their own. Most blacks prefer to remain safely in the Democrat Party, relying on promised handouts from “Daddy.”
The Republican Party is not perfect, but its policies are more in line with my beliefs. I believe the people, not the government, should have the most rights, and that people should rely on God rather than government.
That is why, I, a black person have chosen not to be a Democrat.
I prefer not to vote for the party that is helping to send American jobs overseas, and to reduce US workers to wage slaves beholding to the untaxed rich and big business.
Well Constance old girl, that is your right, you can vote for any party you want. But, your generalizations show you are a brainwashed lacky of the rich. They don’t care about you one whit, unless you happen to be one of them. That same old crap about the Democrats turning everyone into a government dependent reallly gets old, it just isn’t true, Having a safety net to take care of those that in trouble shows Christian compassion, which you obviously don’t have. Are there those that DO take advantage of the system, of course, but why not just go after those people instead of those that have real needs. I have been fortunate to never need welfare, social security, food stamps, or help wiht medical, but I do recognize that there are those who do. The Republikans DON’T care about “freedom and growth by personal means” instead of “dependency and reliance on government” what drivel! The Republikans also don’t have a corner on Christianity. I find many of them so hateful that I see no way they will “get into heaven”. Love thy neighbor there Constance.
Ms. Walden, your view of Democrats is boilerplate republican nonsense. I am saddened that you bought into views from a party that has little or no regard for the oppressed and minorities or furthering human rights for everyone.
It is your choice though, and I hope your friends and neighbors understand.
Well said. It breaks down to freedom, opportunity, individual responsibility versus govt handouts and meddling. Fiscal prudence vs ignoring America’s enormous debt.
Thanks again for the well spoken LTE.
Well said Constance.
And the saviors of the democrats that troll this newspaper have spoken again! I just love how each and every one of you (xring, publico, fibbonacci) have to defend your personal political views and attack anyone who does not agree with your views. You post the same nonsense, you come with nothing new just the same old stuff of “republicans are bad”, it’s like your comments on here are going to change her beliefs and values! It’s rather pathetic! But hey keep posting cause everything that flies out of your mouth and onto the keyboard for eveyone to see keeps us laughing!
concernedtacoma7
You would have been very happy in Victorian England right? Plenty of freedom, opportunity, and individual responsibility there. Of course there were also work houses, debtors prisons, and people starving to death on the streets, but that is fine with you. I much prefer to live in a country that takes care of those unable to take care of themselves.
Constance rolls out a variation on this letter every few months.
We get it Connie – you are a black, female conservative who has a chip on your shoulder about that.
Not many blacks in America have escaped the “plantation” to be on their own. Most blacks prefer to remain safely in the Democrat Party, relying on promised handouts from “Daddy.”
Wow Connie….you really don’t have a high opinion of anyone of your same coloration who doesn’t share your political belief system.
Oh I forgot to add beerboy in there too! Thanks for adding nonsense to the conversation! We all get a good laugh! Now since we are all sharing our opinion on here, don’t you guys have a drum circle to go join? Maybe a basket weaving class, or go protest the state for trying to evict the “Occupy Tacoma Camp”!?
Connie is a true Patriot!!! Thanks for you honesty and having the nerve to tell Tacoma how you feel.
Somthing tells me that the liberals that bad mouth you are like water on a ducks back. You go girlfriend.
Nice personal attack on her, BB. How many pro-gay marriage letters have we seen in the last 3 weeks?
Her message is powerful. It scares the far left to see their base drifting because of their rhetoric only history.
It is a great story of individual thought and choice. About refusing to be treated as a group vs individual.
Great letter.
This is a courageous letter from someone who possesses the values which have made America great.
It is refreshing to hear from someone willing to express their views without the filter of political correctness.
Most people are reluctant to admit that their station in life has been mostly determined by themselves and the power to change one’s life resides within. The people who succeed in America are mostly the ones willing to take responsibility for themselves, regardless of race.
Constance – you have a right to vote as you see fit. Maybe you, as a black woman, can explain to us why the Republican Party has done such a poor job of recruiting black voters, if they are so good for the black community.
Oh….you brought up religion as part of your political stand.
Nevermind.
beerBoy nails the issue and the Choir of Whine goes for the “attack” card.
Interesting how the Conservatives don’t see Constance attacking her fellow black women (and men).
“They tend to be anti-Christian in regards to displaying Scripture and crosses in public places, while at the same time, they tolerate other religions, even promoting their teachings in the public schools”
Oh…did I mention that Constance has a problem with telling the truth?
In 2004 the Pew Research Center indicated only 7% of blacks identify as Republican.[6] Hence a certain percentage of noted Black conservatives (such as Harold Ford Jr.) are likely connected to the Democrats for Life of America movement or economic liberalism.
Interesting that wiki would mention Harold Ford, Jr.
Here is what Harold had to deal with in a campaign because he wasn’t “conservative enough”:
http://www.truthdig.com/avbooth/item/200601024_harold_ford_ad/
“It is a powerful innuendo that plays to pre-existing prejudices about African American men and white women,” said Hilary Shelton, head of the Washington office of the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People, the country’s oldest civil rights organization.
A former Republican senator, William S. Cohen of Maine, was more blunt. Cohen, who was also Defense secretary under President Clinton, said on CNN that the ad was “a very serious appeal to a racist sentiment.”
When you get past the religion and the rhetoric, Constance, it’s rather obvious why you are part of a very small minority of your race.
TNT must be hurting for letters, she wrote about this, last year.
You go girl……well said!!!
Romulan: This subject shouldbe written about many times…
Agree, but the same letter, same person?
“well said”.
Not true, but “well said” in the eyes of partisanship
What is not true? Her political beliefs? Racist Kard. You are mad because BHO has destroyed the economy, and minorities have suffered the most. Dems help small groups, republicans help everyone.
Funny! Republicans only help the well-off!
Great article and Xring, she does not want them to care about her. She likes being free! Democrats have done nothing for Blacks but increase their dependence on the government. Democrats buy votes that way.
Romney’s exact words: “I’m not worried about the poor, only the middle class.” Doesn’t sound like everyone to me.
CT7 – cry me a river – you right wingers defend handouts to the rich and big business but any help for the working and middle classes is fiscal imprudence.
Fbergford – the difference between me and you is I defend my beliefs with logic and reason, whereas you only recite pathetic right wing talking points.
Taxed – patriotism is the first refuge of scoundrels and chalatons.
Manuel- I for one would like to hear Connie’s defense of GOP efforts to prevent poor and minority citizens from voting.
Redneck –
Maybe we and our economy would all be better shape if the Rpots were not sending our jobs overseas.
The mighty tidy right don’t buy votes – they steal elections.

Constance rolls out a variation on this letter every few months.
Yabetchya asks
Would you say the same about Fred?
Beware of the TRUE racist that are out Constance.. They have bashed you over and over, just because you are not what they think you should be.
“Would you say the same about Fred?”
Nice use of the childish “but all the other kids are doing it” excuse.
Quote: ManuelMartini~~”Please, fanciladi, don’t bring your complaints about comments in here. We already have plenty of those.”
~~~
I see you trying to start some problems…there was NO need to put that comment here!
@Romulan…you left the important part of the comment off… The part about the poor having a safety net and if it needs fixing he will fix it!
Half a quote isn’t really fair…especially this type of quote!!!
“yabetchya says:
Feb. 2, 2012 at 8:14 pm Beware of the TRUE racist that are out Constance.. They have bashed you over and over, just because you are not what they think you should be.”
Racism from the side of your mouth. No one told Constance what the “expect her to be”. I, for one, asked her to explain why the Republicans can’t seem to get their message across to other black people. SHE is the one that brought the subject up. Don’t expect others to not question her assertions.
“concernedtacoma7 says:
Feb. 2, 2012 at 6:05 pm What is not true? Her political beliefs? Racist Kard.”
I copied and pasted the untruth. Just because you are illiterate doesn’t make me a racist. Tell you what, here’s a repeat for the slow readers: “They tend to be anti-Christian in regards to displaying Scripture and crosses in public places, while at the same time, they tolerate other religions, even promoting their teachings in the public schools”
No one is “anti-Christian” because they are Democrats. The rest of the paragraph was not only false, but it was ridiculous.
As to my criticism, I have criticized her before for this malarky. Today, I learned she was black.
Nice try, ct7, but like all the rest of your garbage, it stinks
“Would you say the same about Fred?”
Because Fred doesn’t rerun the same subject matter.
Yet another warped walden wopper. And her supporters are all the known characters who spin, spin, spin. No facts anywhere from them.
Publico, I was particularly amused with “They tend to be anti-Christian in regards to displaying Scripture and crosses in public places, while at the same time, they tolerate other religions, even promoting their teachings in the public schools”
Everyone I know, including me says if Christians are going to get public displays, then all religions should, but my preference is that religion stays out of the public arena. How Constance can spin that into the above is beyond belief.
“You are mad because BHO has destroyed the economy”
One more time, ct7…..WHO WAS IN OFFICE IN SEPT 2008?????
since fanciladi want’s to protect Romney, lets look at his ENTIRE statement (compliments of the Christian Science Monitor):
“I’m in this race because I care about Americans. I’m not concerned about about the very poor – we have a safety net there, if it needs repair I’ll fix it. I’m not concerned about the very rich, they’re doing just fine.
I’m concerned about the very heart of America, the 90-05 percent of Americans that right now are struggling.”
If you read that correctly, he cares about Americans, but is not concerned about the very poor. Thus, I’m left to wonder if he thinks they are Americans. As to the “safety net”, it’s there for everyone that is lucky enough to reach the bottom of the barrel. By the time Mitt gets around to “fixing” it, how much more can they lose?
The “90-05 percent”, I think was a typo intended to be “90-95%” Which means that Mitt thinks the poor and the rich make up 5-10% of Americans (if the poor really ARE Americans). Mitt had better bone up on his numbers. Americans below the poverty level make up 16% of the populace (1 in 6).
Mitt’s lack of ability to speak to this subject is probably due to the silver spoon stuck in his mouth since birth.
“Not many blacks in America have escaped the “plantation” to be on their own.”
That seems like a fairly racist comment about African-Americans, coming from a black person or any other person of any other color for that matter.
“Most blacks prefer to remain safely in the Democrat Party, relying on promised handouts from “Daddy.”
That part of her statement might have come off as more honest if she would have ended it with “Massah.” instead of “Daddy.”
Just a couple observations. Not making any judgements. Freedom of speech goes both ways don’t you know!
They have bashed you over and over, just because you are not what they think you should be.
No. I have “bashed” Constance for rehashing the same letter over and over and her claim that hers is the only appropriate political leaning for blacks to take. I criticize one woman’s letter for her criticism of an entire race of people for not sharing her beliefs and yet you somehow have translated my criticism of her race-based criticism as being racist. The sophistry that you employ on this is so incredible it is hard to believe even you believe it.
Regarding LaMotte’s many letters – Fred is consistent in his political leaning and his output is perhaps excessive but he does write about different things. Constance, on the other hand, is not as prolific but her letters only demonstrate a slightly higher level of variation than 3rdpigshouse’s posts – Connie states, rather defensively, that she is a black woman who is a Republican because she is a conservative Christian and she believes that the Republican way better supports individual rights and that all the liberal blacks are just dumb (insert taboo racial epithet here) who want to stay dependent upon the Democratic daddies because they won’t grow up and be like here.
I find her racial stereotyping of non-Conservative blacks to be rather offensive and, frankly, racist.
“be like her” not “be like here”
@fanciladi good catch, just seeing if anyone was paying attention!
Very well written letter, Constance! In general, democrats are all about helping small heavily lobbied groups by taxing others. By contrast, republicans help everyone through accountability! Of course, there are exceptions to each of these broad statements.
Opiate. Masses.
Hm, there must be something to that…
Willful ignorance. Irrationality. Lack of critical thinking. These are your problems, not the Democrats or anyone’s skin color.
I guess I should share this.
My “adopted” mother (a delightful, intelligent 88 year old black woman who has allowed me to call her “mom” since my mother died) recently told me what a “clown” Herman Cain was.
Let the racist taunts begin!
“democrats are all about helping small heavily lobbied groups by taxing others. By contrast, republicans help everyone through accountability!”
The accountants of the oil companies are accountingly accountable.
As to my criticism, I have criticized her before for this malarky. Today, I learned she was black.
Constance has never hidden her race, so you have not been paying attention much !
I think it is quite odd, that the ones calling Constance racist, are the ones saying black people are not racist. Is it only because she is a Republican? I believe your comments to Constance are racist, sexist and KKK like, Shame on you !
You obviously feel superior to your average “plantation” black brothers and sisters. You fit the Republican mold.
Congratulations Constance. So much truth wrapped in this one line from your letter: “the poverty and dependency of black and white citizens alike only seem to increase.”
Keeping people dependent and allowing them to abdicate responsibility is at the heart of statist ideologies. Including allowing all of us to abdicate our responsibility to take care of the poor by tax/redistribute policies.
And fibonacci, to the back of the PC class for you. Your “Constance old girl” is insulting and quite telling.
Sozo agrees – “the poverty and dependency of black and white citizens alike only seem to increase.”
OK, sozo. Back up your cheerleading. Provide support data that demonstrates the proof of that ridiculous claim.
Oh…”seem” to increase. Another of those “opinion” things….
“are the ones saying black people are not racist.”
NOPE. Not me.
I’m the first to say that Elijah Mohammed was a racist. Malcomb X, until his revelation, was a racist. The list is long. Racism is an equal opportunity employer.
Thumbs up Constance!!!
Nope, MM: Jesse Jackson and others assert that it is impossible for blacks and other “oppressed” minorities to be racist…
aozo: It looks as if it’s your turn to be the pinata. I’ve been swamped lately, so have had little time to spend on this forum, but I’ve a break coming up–soon–and will return with renewed energy to fight the good fight. Hang in.
make that “sozo…” Sorry!
“Nope, MM: Jesse Jackson and others assert that it is impossible for blacks and other “oppressed” minorities to be racist…”
Jesse Jackson as the right to be wrong, just like you.
Can you cite a quote to support your claim?
Here is a REAL Jackson quote:
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0911/64841.html
sissnder (turn about is fair play)
If one defines racism as based in unequal power structures then the only way an oppressed minority could be racist is if one is looking at a sub-culture that inverts the power structure.
However, if one defines racism as an expression of bigotry based upon race then it is entirely possible for the oppressed to also be racist within a racist power system.
Welcome to the big house.
Constance wrote a letter expressing her beliefs which some agreed with and others did not.The ones that agreed with her said so with restraint,those that didn’t agree responded with what I consider a rather vicious attack. The people that have opinions should be able to convey those opinions with being vilified by that don’t agree.What is being demonstrated by the attackers is,My mind is already made up so don’t offer any ideas that might cause me to alter my opinion!
sincere, I agree that Constance expressed her beliefs, but I also pointed out that her beliefs, and least in two of the phrases she used, seemed very close to being racist remarks against African-Americans as a group. (See my comment on 2/2 @ 10:31 PM)
Some of the people here who you characterize as “attackers” may simply have been incensed or even outraged by what they read as her obvious racist comments. Nobody has to, or even should accept outright racism. And, my mind is made-up on that point.
Constance is entitled to her beliefs and her opinions, but she could have expressed them without the racial epithets.
Constance, you have stood up for what you believe, and stated it very clearly.
It takes courage to go against the mainstream thinking, especially in this state.
God bless you.
“The welfare state is not really about the welfare of the masses. It is about the egos of the elites.”
Thomas Sowell
“The question is not what anybody deserves. The question is who is to take on the God-like role of deciding what everybody else deserves. You can talk about ‘social justice’ all you want. But what death taxes boil down to is letting politicians take money from widows and orphans to pay for goodies that they will hand out to others, in order to buy votes to get re-elected. That is not social justice or any other kind of justice.”
Thomas Sowell
But what death taxes boil down to is letting politicians take money from widows and orphans to pay for goodies that they will hand out to others, in order to buy votes to get re-elected.
Sowell invokes the image of poor widows and orphans being starved by big, bad government but the reality of the Estate Tax is that up to $5 million can be passed from an individual upon his or her death without incurring federal estate tax. They may be widows (or widowers) and orphans but nasty Government ain’t gonna leave them paupers.
Of course by gendering the rich dead guy as a guy and not a gal, Sowell is also reinforcing sexist expectations of the man as being the provider. A conservative columnist who happens to be dark-skinned demonstrates sexually chauvinistic attitudes….why am I not surprised?
So, we know why this black woman is not a Democrat.
What I would like her to explain is why she, a black woman, is apparently a racist against other black people?
“….why am I not surprised?”
As if the left needed to further enforce they are insensitive, deranged lunatics on this thread, bB and Muck leave no doubt, finishing strong.
Wow.
Baaaaaaaa. Sounds like all of you who disagree with what Constance has to say are like sheep.
And you are all out to pasture with your donkey friends……
Constance, you go ahead and be a black sheep.. Be proud that you can feel the way you want and don’t let those Donkey lovin’ wingnuts bother you.
