MARRIAGE: A win for truth and religious freedom

The Washington state Senate’s passage of a marriage equality bill Wednesday marked a great moment for truth, justice and religious liberty.

It was once believed that demons or humor imbalances caused disease, that marriage should be between one woman and one man, and that the monarch’s religion should be the country’s religion.

We now know that illness is caused by viruses, bacteria or genetics, that sexual diversity makes a gender dualism nonsensical and unenforceable, and that religious freedom is good.

Any state endorsing marriage only between a “male” and a “female” is as unwise as limiting medical treatment to exorcism and blood-letting, and as restrictive of religious freedom as mandating conservative Christianity as a state religion.
