I-1163: Legislature must act to fund initiative

Washington voters have supported protecting our seniors and people with disabilities twice in three years. Just last month, more than a million Washingtonians voted yes on Initiative 1163, clearly stating their support.

Despite these efforts, the Legislature has neglected to implement these sound policies regarding home health care workers. We must protect the most vulnerable, and this initiative does just that. The Legislature needs to balance the budget, raise revenue and fund I-1163.

I don’t want MY tax dollars going to fund SEIU’s slush fund…

I could not agree more. Once more “we” have voted in a new law with no thought as to how it will be funded.

  3. Washington voters were suckered by feel good politics without realizing that this was nothing more than an SEIU move to push out non-union caregivers. Voters approved it, but if it never happens, it’s too soon.

  4. taxedenoughintacoma says:

If they fund this I want it taken from other programs that pay the SEIU.

Ask the SEIU which one of their programs they want to cut to pay for this boondoggle.

  5. BlaineCGarver says:

Let caretakers pay for their own schooling. SEIU is the only party to benefit from this stupid vote.

  6. aislander says:

I just found out that Michigan has a similar law (also pushed by SEIU) that has a provision that family caregivers who receive Medicaid payments have an amount automatically deducted from those payments to–wait for it–pay union dues to SEIU.

That means that Michigan taxpayers are paying dues to SEIU…

And a chunk of those dues come back as contributions to…the DEMOCRAT PARTY! Members of which passed the law in the first place. Sweet deal, huh?

And THAT means (if you weren’t aware of it already) the Democrat party is a taxpayer-supported entity. Now you know why those government workers get such fat pension and health plans…

    good homework aislander
