VETERANS DAY: Politicians being hypocritical

I have been listening to the president and other politicians talk about our veterans and thanking them for their service. I find it rather insulting that the politicians give there thanks on TV for all to see while they are sitting in a back room trying to figure out how to take away the benefits that these brave men and women have earned.

If they truly cared for the veterans, they would not be looking for ways to take from them what they have earned. I want to say thank you to all who have served and are serving our country with no regard for there own life and welfare. I want to say thank you for leaving your families and for fighting for our freedoms. God bless you.

  1. NickDixon says:

Donna, if you are looking for the culprits in reducing veterans benefits, look no further than your Republican Party.

You can thank Patty Murray and Norm Dicks for their work.

  2. Donna, thank you for your good wishes. Today, I was reading in this newspaper the observances for Veterans’ Day. If I stand in line at any number of restaurants, I can get a free meal. However, if my wife and I, both veterans, want to go to the history museum on Pacific Avenue, we cannot get in at no charge on Veterans’ Day. If you are retired military you are admitted for free. If you are on active duty, the admission charge is waived. If you are a social security recipient who served for the duration of WWII, but, are not a military retiree, you must pay. If you are a four star active duty general, you and your family are admitted at no charge.

If you are a disabled combat veteran with a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, who served for two years, well you just have to pay on Veterans’ Day. Anyway, thanks to all the men and women who served and are currently serving. God Bless You All!

Thanks BTDT for being a downer on Veterans Day.

    Who is “BTDT”?

Luckily, someone stayed on topic for this thread

  5. As a Vietnam Era Vet, I tend to ignore all the hooey these days.

My honest gut opinion is (very generalized as I know the are many who are sincere)that all this attention towards Veterans is simply feel good fluff by the public who knows full well they treated military members from my generation like garbage and now they sorta feel bad about that, so they will go overboard for today’s kids.

Just heap loads of praise this time, and maybe the rotten behavior before will be forgotten. My gut tells me that behind the facade of pride, there still lies a public that could care less.

This time they just cant let their neighbors see it, because treating vets like kings today is the cool thing to do.

Kardixon is a krackup with all the denials… kooky.
