PUYALLUP: Palmer’s the better choice for City Council

The voters in Puyallup’s District 2 should choose the best candidate for our city, John Palmer. He is committed to retaining and enhancing the best qualities of our community while maintaining a balanced budget and healthy fiscal future.

Of the two candidates for this position, Palmer clearly has proven he is the kind of leader we need in our city. He has the most relevant and recent civic experience.

Palmer is currently serving his third year as chairman of Puyallup’s Planning Commission and has been a member of that important commission for four years. His competitor, Charley Stokes, stated he joined the race at the last minute so that Palmer would not run unopposed. I’d rather have a higher level commitment than that.

When choosing Palmer over Stokes, the Puyallup Police Association stated, “Mr. Palmer is a leader who displays unquestionable ethics, honesty and thoughtful consideration, and his present experience on the Planning Commission gives him a head start on the city’s issues.”

The News Tribune also chose to endorse Palmer as the “stronger choice” for Puyallup’s future, noting in its editorial that Stokes is “having to bring himself up to speed.”

I’m supporting John Palmer, the better choice for our city.
