As four sitting Gig Harbor City Council members and a candidate for City Council, we fully endorse Jill Guernsey for Gig Harbor City Council, Position No. 4.
Guernsey has been an extraordinary public servant serving as a land use attorney in the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office, on the Peninsula School Board (several of those years as president of the board) and as a planning commissioner for the city.
Guernsey and her fellow planning commissioners just concluded a year-and-a-half-long study and development of our Shoreline Master Program. It was an extensive, balanced effort where property rights were protected, as well as sensible protections for the environment. This common-sense approach is the style Guernsey will bring to the City Council.
We need smart people to serve during a period in which creativity and common sense will be essential to revive our local economy without sacrificing our high land use standards.
We ask you to join us and hundreds of our neighbors to elect Jill Guernsey as our next City Council member. We may not always agree with each other on all issues that we face, but on this we are sure: Guernsey will serve the city of Gig Harbor with distinction.
