There is a point in a public servant’s time of service where their ideas are no longer fresh, where after many years they have nothing more to offer than experience. This is not uncommon with people holding any office for extended periods of time. Sumner School District’s Director Position 2 is currently held by one of those long-time members and is being contested this election.

Fortunately, we have a choice – and an excellent one, at that. Paul Bucich is a person I have come to know, one who recognizes that the Sumner School District is an excellent place to educate his children, and he wants to ensure that excellence continues. Paul’s children are currently enrolled in Sumner schools; he and his wife are active in their scholastic lives.

Bucich sees “the big picture” – not just from the silo of the District board room. He understands the concept of collaboration and knows there are plenty of qualified experts within the District whose knowledge can be drawn upon for major decisions. Bucich is professional, motivated, and energetic, and I believe he will be an outstanding representative of the Sumner School District.

In light of the recent controversy surrounding Gil Mendoza (regardless of how close his ties might be to Paul Bucich) I urge you to please vote for Jeff DeMarre.

I want to thank Jeff DeMarre for his leadership during the difficult time for our district this past year, and I hope his service will continue for many years to come. It has become quite clear and obvious why the former superintendent had to leave. Jeff stood up during that time and did what was right for our district and most importantly for our children.

Gil Mendoza has spent nearly $8,0000 and tried to buy this election by sending a misleading flier to 20,000 homes in an attempt to influence this election for his own personal gain. This alone proves Mendoza does not have the character or sense of decency to be in the position of Superintendent of Sumner School District.

I urge all my fellow parents and neighbors in the Sumner School District to vote for Jeff DeMarre. His record has been impeccable, and he continues daily to go above and beyond to do what is right for our children. Jeff DeMarre is the idea of what a public servant should be, and we should feel extremely lucky to have him on our board.
