PUYALLUP: Pasquier is best choice for schools

Last week I had the opportunity to meet Therese Pasquier, candidate for Puyallup School Board, at a neighborhood “meet the candidates” event. She impressed me immensely.

First, was her willingness to meet informally with those whose support she seeks. She listened intently to my concerns and was genuinely interested in my thoughts.  She shared her vast experience advocating for better education as the PTA president, co-chair of the Citizens Committee for Education and in raising grants for school needs.

Asking about her professional experience, I learned that Pasquier has a vast business background as a funds developer and manager of a brokerage firm along with graduate studies in hospital administration.

Meeting Pasquier, reviewing her resume and realizing that her opponent Dane Looker has publicly stated that “Mrs. Pasquier has more experience than me” and “my list of professional credentials is short” makes Therese Pasquier my overwhelming choice to serve on the Puyallup School Board.

  1. Absolutely not! She will continue the problems we’ve have the last several years with Apostle telling the school board what he wants instead of the other way around. I voted for Looker, Snyder and Uphaus to break the chain.

I think she is going to win this race. Just as well!

Whozit- What makes you say that Pasquier is not going to bring positive change?

  4. ChangethePSDBoard says:

Whozit obviously has not done his/her homework researching the candidates. Therese Pasquier is a strong advocate for change and will not cower to Apostle. In fact, Apostle’s self absorbed tactics are why she chose to run. She wants to see to see less knee jerk reactions, well thought out solutions (versus decisions driven by fear of lawsuits), and that Apostle be more transparent and to communicative with the public’s questions. Looker is a very nice guy and excellent athlete and coach. I just don’t feel that has the savvy or experience to hit the ground running. Looker also not been decisive on his vision for the District, or his opposition to Tony Apostle, and has NOT been as involved as Pasquier with current or prior School Board proceedings.
