PUYALLUP: Vermillion the only logical choice

Letter by Tom E. Potter, Puyallup on Oct. 21, 2011 at 5:17 pm |

I spent the majority of my working years as management in the tire business in Puyallup. I have served on numerous boards and committees over the years. Those commitments were more than a one-time cameo appearance. I am disappointed in the selection of the person chosen to replace George Dill on the city council.

Attending committee meetings one time does not constitute being a board member. Being a volunteer requires more than a cameo appearance. Nicole Martineau voted against the people’s right to initiative and referendum and a study on placing city offices in city buildings, yet stated at a candidate forum that she supported them.

I have known Steve Vermillion for 20 plus years. He will represent the people of Puyallup from the city center to the city limits. He will be able to work with both the sitting council members and the candidates. He will be fiscally responsible in all aspects of our city government.

If you don’t want to look across the street and see 16 houses per acre, if you don’t want your taxes and utilities raised, if you want someone on the council who listens to the voice of the people and makes decisions based on the facts and whats best for the people of the city, I urge you to vote for Steve Vermillion in the upcoming election.
