Re: “Let women control their own bodies” (letter, 10-17).
As individuals, we can chose whether to engage in activity that leads to pregnancy or not, but once a pregnancy has occurred our responsibility becomes to ensure the health of the unborn baby. It is not simply “a religious issue,” but a life issue.
The unborn baby is a separate life with its own unique genetic identity separate from the mother or father. To allow the mother to discard it at her own discretion is equivalent to murder. If it is murder after the child is born, why would it not be before it is born?
