I would like to acknowledge and thank the Puyallup Police Association and the Pierce County Professional Firefighters Local 726 for their recent endorsement of Puyallup City Council candidate Steve Vermillion in the upcoming November election.

In my six years of watching Puyallup government, I can’t remember a time when both public safety organizations endorsed the same candidate. I truly trust their judgment as to which candidate they feel will best support their services and the safety of Puyallup citizens and their families.

Living the last 20 years in a wonderfully diverse downtown Puyallup neighborhood with several special care facilities nearby, I have witnessed many medical aid, fire and crime calls by our police and fire departments. Our police and fire personnel are always extremely responsive to each call and always considerate of our surrounding neighborhood.

To me, along with quality infrastructure and reasonable utility rates, police and fire protection is paramount for city governments to provide for their residents. Congratulations also to Vermillion and his willingness to take a position on the issues, even during this campaign season.
