As a nutrition consultant, I understand that going to the fair is a calorie madhouse. But the fair should be a fun time for everyone, even if you’re trying to manage your weight.
Yes, there are many high-calorie foods and beverages that people can buy at the fair, but people shouldn’t worry. In order to deal with the calorie blunder of delicious foods, I tell myself and my patients to allow ourselves a treat.
Moderation is the key when confronted with many food and beverages. It’s OK to have an elephant ear and a Coke at the fair (that’s what I always get) if you stick to your daily physical activity.
So allow yourself some happiness and have the foods and drinks you want, just make sure to exercise. There are so many amazing activities at the fair – blue-ribbon pies, local grange displays and rides – so don’t feel like you have to miss out.
