While Puyallup touts its ride-sharing program, why did it send four employees and council members in separate vehicles to a conference in Spokane to pick up an “ecology” award?

Why does Puyallup ship a semi fully loaded with sewage sludge every other day at great expense to Eastern Washington?

Why does the city charge half the cost to house its neighbor’s prisoners ?

Why did the city try to buy a couple of acres of swampland for over half a million dollars from the ex-mayor of Bonney Lake ?

Why does the city provide residents of the mayor’s tax-abated condos subsidized secure parking in the city hall garage ?

Why does the city need 800 square feet of the county’s most expensive office space for each and every City Hall employee ?

Why did the city support a $3 million taxpayer upgrade to a private parking lot with a $100,000 traffic light installation for just 12 cars ?

Why did the city donate tens of thousands of dollars of free facility improvements to a tenant who pays no rent at City Hall?

Why did the city build a $30 million bridge over farmland without consideration of lawsuits from the landlocked farmers below the bridge ?

Why did the city approve building permits for apartments on a known toxic landfill and then pay $2.5 million in legal damages ?

Answer: They don’t care. They don’t have to..

  1. PumainTacoma says:

I hear that no property tax government building downtown is due to your dear Kastama assisting his campaign coffer friends. The real crust of the issue is our elected officials help their friends “avoid paying taxes” to benefit themselve and their campaign coffers.

  2. puyallupmutt says:

Puyallupites happy with current corruption, deceit and spiraling debt should vote for Turner’s hand picked protoge, Nicole Martineau. Martineau and 5 of her current crooked associates rule in secret meetings held behind closed doors.

Those who need a voice on this corrupt council to try to bring responsibity and transparency should consider voting for Steve Vermillion. Steve’s as transparent and honest as they come.

That fact is “coded” in today’s TNT official endorsements for city council.

It might have been the great legal advise they got from their former employee?

We haven’t seen any disclosure that led to the employment ending for our city attorney. It would be nice to know since we paid the salary and benefits. Was there a termination package?

  4. Oh, and I also liked the council’s vote to change the design of the 9th/94th street widening. The State of WA then told them they weren’t getting the three and a half million dollars of state funds if they changed the design. So the city went back to the original design and it cost the citizens much more. The nimrods didn’t even see that one coming.
