POLITICS: Legislators just toe the party line

Letter by Donald Ray Veal, Gig Harbor on July 12, 2011 at 1:45 pm with 55 Comments »

I am disgusted with the prejudiced, intolerant, narrow-minded and partisan rhetoric presented by both the Republican and Democratic parties. No member of Congress seems to have an opinion that is his or her own. It is always of the party, by the party and for the party.

I have had enough and will never vote for an incumbent running for re-election. One term is enough. Not worrying about re-election just might permit them to have the guts to do what is best for the country and not the party.

  1. Donald – I share your concerns, but arbitrarily voting against an incumbant is about as closed minded as you are accusing them of being….

    Follow the money trail, Donald…

  2. SadujTogracse says:

If one votes by following the money trail then one should have never voted for Gregoire.

  3. Oh yeah….Dino never had any money trail…..LMAO

  4. Dino Rossi was the best candidate the Republicans could buy…..but never good enough.

  5. SadujTogracse says:

Gregoire’s trail was much more dirty, corrupt, and tainted.

  6. SadujTogracse says:

Oh he was good enough, that is if the elections officials in King County were honest and ethical.

  7. LarryFine says:

Yea, follow the money trail Don… I, like you, will not be voting for Obama.

  8. The Conservative County of Chelan and the Republican Secretary of State say that Gregoire won.

So…let’s forget about the first time and explain why Dino couldn’t win the second time or the Senate seat they tried to buy him.

  9. I’d love to see some proof (not right wing blogs like “Sound Politics”) about all this alleged corruption.

Having had a personal relationship with the Secretary of State and many conversations, he has never mentioned it. Oh…did I forget to say that he was a Republican?

  10. Well…that quieted something down….LOL

  11. Yes, you play that card all the time. “I am a “friend” of Sam Reed a “Republican””. He has never told me that King County is corrupt with their election process.

He knows whicht side of the bread is buttered. And, he is pretty much a RINO.

That is why the KC elections director hit the road and went to Los Angeles where he could steal their elections.

    Kard away…….

  12. klthompson says:

There was a reason in the early 1930’s when James A. Farley, FDR’s campaign manager and Post Master General referred to the United States as “the forty-seven states and the Soviet of Washington”. And he was a Democrat! For those challenged by that statement Alaska, and Hawaii were not in the Union at the time. Nothing really changes.

  13. SadujTogracse says:

Yeah Kard had a “personal relationship” with the SOS, voted 40% Republican, and did I mention he invented the transistor too?

You mean Chelan county wasn’t able to find corruption that was covered up by King County? Gee what a shocker (eyeroll).

  14. Let’s not forget dead out-of-state felons or those that “press dos por espanol” while getting a monopoly money drivers license AND voter registration card regardless of legal presence or the ability to understand English language roadsigns…

  15. I see that Romper Room is on…..

  16. Looks like you better have a back-up plan come August 3rd if you are counting on Social Security, SSI, a military pension check or any other check from the Federal Government. As long as the Republicans in Congress are frozen against Obama this country is high-speeding into default. There will be no money and there will be NO checks issued. This effects about 70 million people. Are you one of them hunkered down with the republicnuts? Sure hope you got a pile of canned goods and candles on hand.

  17. So…..As I figured…..no proof of corruption.

Sorry to see Sam retiring (actually I’m glad for him) because he made such a lightning rod for the Ridiculous Right.

  18. Roncella says:

Olemag, President Obama is using his scare the old folks routine, by hinting they may not get their Social security checks if the debt limit is not raised before aug 2nd.

Most of this debate has been caused by Obama not putting forth a budget that could seriously be debated by either the dems. or the republs. in the Congress. He has be awal on doing his duty as President and writing a budget.

He has been busy, having just raised another 96 million dollars for his re-election fund.

His daily appearences on T.V. talking down to the Republicans and some Democrats, trying to act as though he is the only adult in this big debate.

A serious budget plan was proposed by Rep. Ryan Wisc. months ago and all Obama has done since then is use it to scare the old folks and attack Ryans plan at every opportuntity, still not producing a Budget of his own.

Follow the money is right on when it comes to what Obama is all about. His only priority seems to be about getting re-elected for 4 more years so his bi-monthly vacations and basket ball games and parties at the Whitehouse and trips all over the World can continue for him and Michelle and her Mother to live like kings and queens.

  19. You forgot to mention tele-prompters, Roncella.

  20. Roncella says:

Polago, I may have forgot to mention Obama’s many tele-promter T.V. appearences, but I can assure you Obama never forgets to have his handlers load and ready his many tele-promters he always uses.

  21. Regan used tele-prompters. Reagan had handlers who loaded his tele-prompters.

  22. Teleprompters….as opposed to ear pieces…..

  23. One of the reasons for public information…..the Palin emails….

    March 19, 2007
Palin’s hostility toward the use of teleprompters didn’t fit within her world back in 2007. When Calgary’s “Energy TV” called up looking to interview Palin, Palin communications aide Meg Stapleton wrote to staff:

Energy TV would like an interview with the Governor and I thought this Wednesday might work – the questions are below . What we need to do is simply book the Governor’s time, provide the answers to the questions below, use the prompter and have her look to the side and answer the questions for use by the TV station. I just need help on the answers . It needs to be very conversationally written . Needs to be on 3:30pm Governor’s feed Wednesday – could record according to Governor ‘s schedule on Wednesday morning and would need answers by tomorrow. Possible?

Palin recalled that she had a “long cabinet meeting” scheduled for the same time they had allotted to shoot her side of the interview. Stapleton replied:

We’re working around that. Joe Balash is crafting the answers right now , Sharon will ask the questions, we will have the answers in a teleprompter, and then send those answers over the satellite tomorrow afternoon . It shouldn’t take long , once we have the answers. Expect them tonight.

    Palin replied:
    You’re awesome.

    You’re all awesome.
    Whataday…

  24. Roncella says:

God Bless Sarah Palin. She loves her Country and her State of Alaska. She is proud of America and all its successes and accomplishments.

She feels no need to make excuses for America in past wars nor does she see a need to apologize to dictators and communists leaders and socialist leaders throughout the World.

Our current Commander in Chief could learn much from Sarah Palin about pride of Country.

    LIke using teleprompters?

  26. Did anyone else notice that when I proved that Sarah Palin was using teleprompters with pre-loaded answers to “reporter” questions…..

Roncella went on his “patriotic theme” complete with flag waving and background music.

He was probably programmed by the same people that hypnotized Michele Bachmann.

  27. Flashback – “Regan used tele-prompters. Reagan had handlers who loaded his tele-prompters.”

At least Reagan looked us straight in the eye of the camera……

as opposed to the “Tennis-Ball-Watcher-in-Chief” with his uh..uh..uh tone of condescension…

    Hey Bb, eat your peas…

  28. “At least Reagan looked us straight in the eye of the camera……”

Lots of practice on “Death Valley Days”.

We don’t need another actor to prop up for the Right Wing Business Concerns.

  29. “tone of condescension…”

You’ve actually got the guts to call Obama “condescending” after 8 years of The Smirk????????

    Oh boy……

  30. Do camera’s have eyes?

  31. SadujTogracse says:

    Do Hills have eyes?

  32. Roncella,
    1. ‘scare tactics’ as in’ Obama wants to Kill Grandma’ and “Obamacara means Death Panels’ will decide who gets treatment.

    2. It is the JOB of the House to put forth a budget, so stop trying to blame Obama for another Rpot Failure.

    3. ‘Daily appearances of TV’- First you condemn for not leading, Now you condemn him for leading.

    4. ‘ryan budget’ begins by adding $6 trillion to the debt, and takes 75 years to balance the budget.

    5. ‘follow the money’ it leads right from mega corporations to right wing propaganda and media offices, and into the pockets of selected ring wing pols.

    6. Thanks to Boehner congress only works every other week.

  33. The eyes have it!

I can see that someone has nothing to offer on the subject matter…..again.

I guess there was no corruption, since no one has submitted anything close to proof.

  34. SadujTogracse says:

I always have something to offer. Sometimes it’s humor, sometimes it’s thought provoking insight, and sometimes it’s just plain old debunking!

  35. I can tell when Roncella has rthe right idea when I read all the negative comments from Roncellas haters.keep nup the good work Roncella, as you have at least one admirer.

  36. Ignore the n in up ..

  37. SadujTogracse says:

If you like Roncella, 3rd Pig will be your next love affair.

  39. So…is no one going to provide proof of Gregoire’s campaign “corruption”?

    I guess not.

When the tough questions get asked, the tough come up with answers.

    The rest avoid the questions.

  40. Maybe others have lives?

    Just a thought.

  41. So I guess that people have time to post about others, but don’t have the time to post a factual statement to support the claim that the Gregoire Campaign was corrupt.

I’d love to see some proof (not right wing blogs like “Sound Politics”) about all this alleged corruption.

I’m guessing all I’ll get are childish taunts.

  42. More than a thought.

The lack of data on the thread demonstrates that I’m 100% correct in my assertion.

  43. “The lack of data on the thread demonstrates that I’m 100% correct in my assertion.”

    I wouldn’t go that far…

on a side childish drunken inspired taunting note… no one wants to play with you and you claim victory… tooooooo funny…

  44. I’m still looking for your proof that I’m wrong, xx. I guess your latest deflection is the best you have to offer.

    “childish….drunken”…..OK, if you say so.

  45. “I’m still looking for your proof that I’m wrong, xx. I guess your latest deflection is the best you have to offer.”

I didn’t make the assertion and could care less about Christine… hence no deflection.

My comment referred to your victory dance in a game you are playing by yourself… still funny by the way.

I just came back because I like watching train wrecks and to keep you company… feel blessed?

  46. Roncella says:

sincere, Blind support by supporters of everything Obama and liberal dems. is amazing when you think about it.

They are like robots marching in place to what ever Obama and Reid and Pelosi dictate and proclaim. They continue to act like pretzels as they must go on defending all the mistakes and problems the dems. have caused in the past few years.

The Dems. apparently really can’t help themeselves they actually believe that Obama walks on water and like chris matthews on MSNBC maybe they too get litttle tingles up and down their legs when ever Obama reads from his tele-prompters.

  47. Roncella,
How often do ALL Dems vote the same way on a bill?

How often do ALL Rpots vote the same way on a bill?

    Inquiring Minds Want to Know.

  48. This thread is too funny!

The right has nothing so like always the rightwing trolls attack!
    god bless sara palin???
    Good lord…….

  49. alindasue says:

I keep wondering about the “teleprompter” comments. I don’t see how it really matters or why Sarah Palin (who uses teleprompters herself on occasion) would have even made an issue of it. I can’t think of a President or other public figure who hasn’t used a teleprompter on occasion when giving a televised speech. It doesn’t make the speech any less genuine. It just means that it was prepared in time to be loaded into the machine.

Politics aside, President Obama is good at delivering speeches. That “Tennis-Ball-Watcher-in-Chief” look is a sign of a speaker who is addressing his entire audience and not just the camera in front of him. I fail to see how that would be considered “condescending”.

  50. The teleprompters are brought up because the chosen one cannot speak coherently without them. A press conference is supposed to be an event where the press asks the person (the president in this case) questions. The person is supposed to answer those questions. The person is not supposed to read prepared statements off of a teleprompter. You said Bush couldn’t speak. Listen to Obama off of a telepromter and tell me he is the one.

  51. hey sage1, I remembered this oldie but goodie about the stammer…
from the LA Times… of course… the extent people will go through to cover for The One. What kills me the most is that someone actually got paid for this Op-Ed.

But consider this: It’s not that Obama can’t speak clearly. It’s that he employs the intellectual stammer. Not to be confused with a stutter, which the president decidedly does not have, the intellectual stammer signals a brain that is moving so fast that the mouth can’t keep up. The stammer is commonly found among university professors, characters in Woody Allen movies and public thinkers of the sort that might appear on C-SPAN but not CNN. If you’re a member or a fan of that subset, chances are the president’s stammer doesn’t bother you; in fact, you might even love him for it (he sounds just like your grad school roommate, especially when he drank too much Scotch and attempted to expound on the Hegelian dialectic!).

  52. The teleprompters are brought up because the chosen one cannot speak coherently without them

And I thought it was because the teleprompter reading tv and radio personalities keep bringing up the teleprompters.

btw – are you claiming that Obama used teleprompters during the 2008 debates?

  53. Roncella says:

Come on now lets get real and be honest here.

The President can read the tele-prompters with ease and excellence. However take the tele-prompter away and you get aw, aw, aa, aa, a,aa, a , aw, and on and on.

  54. Again – are you saying Obama used teleprompters during the debates or are you saying that he stuttered so badly during the debates that he looked bad and therefore he lost the debates and so he lost the primaries and the general election?

  55. Roncella says:

beerBoy let me be perfectly clear when I say that President Obama is terrific while reading from his many tele-prompters.

However when not reading from one of his many tele-prompter appearences which is almost daily, he stutters and stamers and aws and aas aa,,aa, aw, aaaaaa…

As far as the 08 debates went, Obama is an excellent Campaigner. He did well in the debates and got his message across very effectively, and won the election in the process.

I have to add that Obama did run against a weak opponent who looked very old and tired and would not go after Obama’s background or accomplishments (few to none) in any way.
