STATE: All state government politicians should resign

How can anyone in the state government claim to be fiscally responsible? They are fiscally responsible for making a mess of the states finances, that is for sure. They make taxes then steal them to use them in ways that they were not meant to be, as with the tax on cigarettes.

I don’t even smoke and that irks me. If the tax money is not going to be used for the reason it was collected, give it back and then revoke that tax. That money was to be used for the health care of individuals in the state, specifically the smokers.

Secondly, how about the education budget? I do not believe the money the state gets for education is meant to offset money that the state has budgeted for education like our state government does.

Come on. You cut teachers’ salary and benefits then take back money that is for the schools because the federal government distributed funds to the states for education? That is not the right thing to do, by no stretch of the imagination.

Everyone in state government should be ashamed and resign. There must be someone in the state that would stand up for the people of the state. There surely is no one presently doing such. Start with the governor. Resign today. Any other person who steals money gets to go to jail. The governing bodies of our government should not get special treatment.

  1. SadujTogracse says:

One can only dream they would resign! Most of the people who are partially responsible for our budget mess are now trying to fix it, see how that’s working? Here’s a helpful tip…. don’t grow the size of the budget by 33% over 4 years and you may not have such a big mess to deal with when the economy slows. YA THINK???

  2. Amen to that and Norm Dicks is one of the worse. I emailed him 5 times with two concerns, no reply. A friend sent him a snail mail letter-no reply. We need businessmen/women in office, kick out the career politicians and get back to basics. This is a USA problem, not just for Wa. state. In case no one has heard of him, Lt. Col. Allen West is awesome and needs to run for president. Listen to his speeches on u-tube – he should be our man, and oh-bummer should take a hike.

  3. fbergford says:

I agree with you man! After I read that little article that Peter wrote today pissed me off too! It’s just wrong.

  4. Norm Dicks is a member of Congress, thus not part of the State Government.

  5. Roncella says:

Washington State had a surplus, that is until Gregoire and the dems. in olympia spent it away.
    c
2012 is not far off, lets clean house in Olympia and Washington D.C. starting from the top down.

Considering that my three state representatives are all Republicans, I guess it would be a dream.

    Another Roncella falsehood

  8. KARDNOS says:

Darlin – Maybe the Congressman didn’t take you seriously, considering you don’t seem to know which branch of government for which he is responsible.

    I know I don’t take you seriously.

  9. KARDNOS says:

The last person to complain about Dicks was complaining about an issue that was county health related.

  10. concernedtacoma7 says:

Kard- you do not have to trust Ron, Greg said it herself. Those quotes have been published on here numerous times

  11. So Olympia has three state representatives now and one Senator?

Like Olympia’s district would vote for anything but a Democrat.

  12. LarryFine says:

Yep, the state lottery was supposed to fund education… instead the casinos are funding democrat control of Wash. … kooky.
And aallll those broken promises to the dem’s biggest constituents.. Teachers, Cops, and Fire Fighters… kookier…

  13. SadujTogracse says:

“Considering that my three state representatives are all Republicans, I guess it would be a dream.”

Oh you mean some of the 40% Republicans you claimed to have voted for? (eyeroll)

  14. SadujTogracse says:

“OLYMPIA — With a supplemental spending plan that largely leaves the state’s $1.4 billion budget surplus alone, Gov. Chris Gregoire took care of a handful of politically helpful problems Tuesday but tried to make “frugal” the Legislature’s word to live by in 2008.”

Well seems we did have a surplus not that far back. Now granted the national economy has a lot to do with our current budget problems, but to completely overlook the mismanagement of the budget and lack of fiscal discipline by Gregoire and the Democrats during those years is naive at best.

  15. Roncella,
The US has as surplus in 2000, and then W. wiped out the surplus and doubled the National Debt.

  16. Make that had a surplus.

  17. concernedtacoma7 says:

Xring, nice deflection. We are talking about washIngton state, you bring up bush, the federal budget, and 11 years ago.

While you are at it, bring up how much the federal debt has risen in the last 2 years. Or, how much since the dems had congress under bush.

How many cronies of BHO skipped a tax payment or two?. How many mentors were domestic terrorists or outright socialists?

Be careful when you switch subjects.

  18. Roncella says:

xring, President Obama has added over 5 trillion dollars in debt to the budget along with the big spending dems. in the Congress, in less than three years, he’s a very very very very big Spender, Oh Yea.

  19. newscrap says:

    Roncella
That surplus you were talking about also came about under the Democrats. In case you hadn’t notice, the governor before the present one was Democrat also. Do you think that maybe, maybe, part of the problem with money has to do with the economy and the drop in income due to many issues such as lower spending and thus less money collected by the state.

I know you have a narrow belief system, but even YOU can see that a financial crisis can be brought about by TWO reasons, 1. spending more and 2,. making less. Do you think that maybe, just maybe, the “spending by the Dems” is not the only cause of the problem with the state budget?

  20. KARDNOS says:

Kard- you do not have to trust Ron, Greg said it herself. Those quotes have been published on here numerous times

No, I don’t have to trust Ron because it is the biggest misrepresentation of a quote that the Republicans use in the State of Washington.

  21. KARDNOS says:

“How many cronies of BHO skipped a tax payment or two?. How many mentors were domestic terrorists or outright socialists?

Wait…I think we have a new winner for misrepresentation…..

  22. KARDNOS says:

    “outright socialists”????????

Is that as opposed to “inwrong socialists”????

  23. KARDNOS says:

“While you are at it, bring up how much the federal debt has risen in the last 2 years.”

    Which administration wrote that budget?

  24. KARDNOS says:

From the Seattle Times, 2006 –

OLYMPIA — Gov. Christine Gregoire on Tuesday cautioned lawmakers against dipping too deep into the state’s projected $1.4 billion budget surplus.

With the state expected to slip back into the red by next year, Gregoire has proposed setting aside nearly two-thirds of the surplus.

“I know some of you want to spend more money — so did I,” Gregoire said during her first State of the State speech. “I know some of you want to cut taxes. So did I.”

  25. KARDNOS says:

Prior to 2006, Richard Debolt, (R) 20th District and management employee of TransAlta, negotiated a tax break for the corporation. The reward to Washingtonians? In 2006, TransAlta shut their mine, in lieu of importing coal from their Canadian mine, and firing 600 workers in Centralia.

I wonder how much money those 600 families contributed to state funds in sales taxes, not to mention the ripple effect on other business in the area.

  26. SadujTogracse says:

What part of a 33% increase over 4 years don’t people understand? Proposing something and wanting to do something are NOT THE SAME as actually doing it.

  27. Roncella says:

DARDNOS, In case you have forgotten President Obama has declared war on both the Coas Industry and Oil Companies.

In many of his tele-prompter speeches he has threatened them with more regulations and red tape. Obama has said, utilities will be costing everyone much more than they presently do.

If you were lucky enough to own a Coal Company and you could move your operations someplace friendlier and with less regulations and govermnent red tape to put up with, why wouldn’t you choose to move away ???

KARDNOS, You Liberal/greenies just can’t wait to pay more for Auto’s, Gas, Utilities, Food, and all the rest, its called Self Destruction.

  28. Two things,
If they resign just what do you think that will fix?

    Second,
Is there ANY rightists that can tell the truth?
Why must you on the right lie so much about everything?
Do you even think about that yourself? If you have to lie to hold yopur beliefs, are they worth holding?

  29. “In case you have forgotten President Obama has declared war on both the Coas Industry and Oil Companies.”

Another in a long list of outright lies, repeated endlessly by the rightists.

  30. What part of tax breaks and 600 jobs sent packing is part of the problem of revenue loss?

  31. As if the cost of autos, gas, utilities and food hasn’t gone up and up and up during the past 50 years.

You left out real estate, Roncella.

  32. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43650955/ns/us_news-environment/

The wealthiest company in the world, possibly the history of mankind, cannot afford to clean up after itself in a timely manner?

What’s your solution, Roncella? Let them pollute?????

  33. “If you were lucky enough to own a Coal Company and you could move your operations someplace friendlier and with less regulations and govermnent red tape to put up with, why wouldn’t you choose to move away ???”

What about the promises made when you got the tax breaks because your public information officer is an elected official? Crap on the local communities because you get a better tax break in a foreign country? Now, there is loyalty!

Oh….I forgot, TransAlta is a Canadian company, just mooching off the US anyway.

  34. Concerned,
“how much did federal debt raise under Bush when Dems controlled Congress”
Not a penny more than Bush signed off on.

“how much has the federal debt risen under Obama”
By almost the same amount that we spent on Bush two unnecessary wars.

“how many cronies of BHO skipped tax payments”
Not as many as the non-cronies have.

    Now for you:
“How many of Bush’s cronies received no-bid cost plus contracts?

    Roncella,
Bush 2, starting with a surplus, more than doubled the national debt, and most of the increase in the debt since 2009 was due to Obama and the Dems moving war funding from the black budget to the public budget.

  35. And the rightists run away………facts and truth win out yet again.

  36. Roncella says:

xring, You apparently need to be reminded that Bush had to respond to the 9-11 Muslim Bombings by Planes and razor knifes.

This was not something he could ignore or not respond to immediately. Wars are expensive and costly in loss of life and many wounded military who need to be taken care of when they return

Obama has spent over 5 trillon dollars in less than three years without a War.

  37. LarryFine says:

    xring says:
    July 6, 2011 at 9:16 pm
    Make that had a surplus.
    …..

…make that nobody would have noticed had you not mentioned it ;)

  38. Roncella,
And you need to be reminded that El Qaeda’s Afghanistan was destroyed and the Taliban Government disposed by the Northing Alliance with the help of US Special Operations Forces.

Then Bush decided to occupy the country and rebuild the country as a western democracy.

Then Bush cut and ran from Afghanistan to look for wmd’s in Iraq.

And Bush’s follies did not end when Bush left office. Obama has ended all combat operations in Iraq, and is about to begin troop draw downs in the other.

  39. Roncella says:

xring, President Bush made his share of mistakes while President.

However his decision to invade Iraq to find the WMD’s which everyone from Nato experts, to the C.I.A. to the State Department, to England, Germany. France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Some weapons inspectors, Hillary & Bill Clinton, John Kerry on and on all believed Sudan H. had WMD and would use them on his neighbors.

President Bush made the bigger mistake of not using his veto pen to stop both the democrats and establishment Republicans from spending us all into the mess we find America in today. Bush enabled the spenders to go right on spending by not using his veto pen.

Even with the mistakes Bush made our economy was much stronger.

Now we have the Community Organizor as President and he does not have a clue on what to do to fix the mess were in, except to spend and increase taxes by ending the Bush tax cuts.
