BUDGET: McKenna mostly right

Re: “McKenna campaigns with faulty data” (TNT, 6-20).

Reading the anti-McKenna article brought back memories of the debate between Dino Rossi and Chris Gregoire, televised live. Rossi claimed our governor was close to $3 billion in debt. She hotly shot back that was a lie, and in fact we had a $2 billion surplus.

A few weeks later she was elected, and we found out she was indeed in debt, but not $2.8 billion, but over $3 billion. She openly lied to the people of our state, and not once did the media hold her feet to the fire for it a huge open fib and for running up a huge debt, partly caused by spending at 16 percent while the economy was growing at 10 percent, and partly by increasing state government by over 30 percent.

Rob McKenna may have been off a little in his math, but very little in comparison, but any anti-GOP news is hot fodder for the media.

  1. BigSwingingRichard says:

So, are you saying the press is liberal and protects Democratic politicians?

    I am shocked!

  2. Roncella says:

Robert, Lets all count our blessings at the fact that Gregoire is not running again. Amen, and Amen.

Its time to change leadership in Olympia in 2012 hopefully the elections will do just that.

There was a time when Washington state produced some great senators and representitives, like Senator Jackson, and Maggie, and some great Governor’s also.

Just maybe we can restore honor and intelligence once again to Washington State and elect someone who has business experience along with common sense, to balance the budget.

  3. the3rdpigshouse says:

The pathetic News (?) Tribune starting off the election season with the first article on McKenna being negative tells the story! The paper is a sorry rag which has never provided the citizens of Washington an unbiased narrative on anyone other than a socialist democrat for decades!

  4. LarryFine says:

    So true Robert, so true.

  5. mckenna lied, plain and simple. There is no liberal press about it, a lie is a lie is a lie and he did just that……he lied.

You either support a liar or you don’t. It seems the further to the right one is the more lies you swallow and the more you tell.

  6. BlaineCGarver says:

Botnen is accurately on the mark. With this state dominated by ‘Crats, how the heck you can blame Conservatives for anything is beyond me.

  7. Grassisgreener says:

I don’t see how saying that the further to the right one is the more lies you swallow and the more you tell is at all accurate. Didn’t you read the Letter to the Editor? Christine Gregoire lied, and she isn’t the only one on the left. I’m not saying people on the right don’t lie, I’m just saying that people on the left lie too. But maybe those lying lefties are further to the right?

  8. aislander says:

Thanks, Grass! Now you have it. Enjoy…

  9. LarryFine says:

    LOL…

  10. Blame it on the media.

    Poor Rob.

The media did its job, for a change. INVESTIGATED.

And all this time I was hoping that maybe this was the beginning of getting away from corporate media press release rewrites……..

I should have know that it was just an attack on poor old Rob. He is misunderstood.

  11. The awesome news is that the liberal press is this desperate to come up with something negative about Rob McKenna. He has the pedigree and the case history to be elected in this backwards, liberal hole of a state we live in. There really aren’t many Republicans that are actually electable in this State, and Rob McKenna is one that is. Liberals, Democrats, and Independents are also able to get behind him, if they can actually put away the completely partisan politics, and look at his track record of fairness.

And he could certainly help dig us out of the hole that Gregoire’s out of control, irresponsible spending(including blowing the whole rainy day fund) based on false data has put us in. And yeah, the economy tanked….that is why you are supposed to have been living within your means, and saving money for emergencies-not building monstrous new state buildings, and hiring like mad!

  12. Roncella says:

KARDNOS, The far left media lame stream Press did not properly vet our current President. Its one of the reasons this Country is in such a mess. Poor President Obama does not have a clue along with the loser advisors he seems to surround himself with.

Thats a great of example of what can happen when the Main Stream Press refuses to do its job completey and without bias.

  13. Roncella,
Name one right wing lie about the President that has not been disproved beyond a shadow of doubt.

  14. Grassisgreener says:

Well, xring, if it’s a lie, doesn’t it have to have been disproved beyond a shadow of a doubt? I mean… isn’t that how we know it’s a lie in the first place?

  15. aislander says:

It’s not the LIES about him that are the problem for Obama, xring: it’s the truths…

  16. I feel aislander made a very valid point that will be ignored by the majority of readers!

  17. LarryFine says:

    … LOL …
