Re: “U.S. must pressure for settlement” (letter, 5-26).

Reading this letter, I would like to comment that I, too, am offended.

I am offended and embarrassed at the audacity of our president telling the head of a foreign country where its borders should be.

I am offended at the belligerent stance, the stony glare and the hand cupped tightly to his chin during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s passionate plea for understanding that Israel cannot possibly move its borders back to an indefensible line.

If President Obama were in Mexico on a state visit, and the president of Mexico told him that the United States needs to move its borders back in our Southern states, all would be vocal in expressing their opinions in this regard. Where is the outrage here?

Israel has made more than its share of negotiated offer to the Palestinians, and their response so far has been more mortars sent into Israel territory.

I am embarrassed that our president, during a state visit to the United Kingdom, lifted a wine glass and prattled on and on with a toast to the queen and England while their national anthem was being played and all in the great room were standing at attention. After he finally got the message, that their national anthem was being played and he was the only one making a toast, he put his wine glass down on the table.

Is there no one in the administration who could teach him a little about protocol?
