JOBS: Take good news with a grain of salt

The Labor Department’s reporting of unemployment rates falling (TNT, 5-21) is very misleading.

Yes, the numbers have dropped, not because we (the unemployed) have found work but because we are not eligible for an extension of our benefits. We have been dropped to the curb, leaving us with no income to pay our bills and buy our food, thus creating the drop in the unemployment rate.

Shame on the Labor Department for leaving out a very important detail, therefore once again misleading the public into a false sense of hope and confidence in the U.S. economy.
