SOUND TRANSIT: Don’t say you weren’t warned

Re: “Light rail to FWay delayed?” (TNT, 5-19).

Fools. Idiots. Anyone who supported “light” (heavy on the wallet) rail as any sort of a solution to this area’s traffic congestion has only made things worse. Massively worse.

Sound Transit has collected $7 billion in taxes since its inception. It is more than a decade late on the original light rail route, which is carrying less than one-sixth of its “projected” ridership (“projected” by anti-business, anti-commuter leftists). It doesn’t have the number of stations promised and travels a useless route with walking distances of up to four miles between stops (even healthy people won’t walk that far).

The News Tribune has typically and ignorantly supported these left-wing boondoggles designed to ruin our quality of life. A road has many uses. A “light” rail line is just another lane of traffic with extremely limited use – no freight; no delivery; no police, fire or medical emergency use – all for many multiples of the cost of a road. Buses can be on every and any arterial and most side streets if necessary.

And now, after all this time, you and the various local governments and businesses have the temerity to complain about the lack of progress and the cost when you all were the instigators of this economic, environmental and sociological disaster.

Many saw this coming; we told you time and again. Thanks to the various supporters, congestion is that much worse and we are out the many billions that could have been used for meaningful transportation solutions.
