PUYALLUP: Principal gets payback for excellence

Re: “Rogers principal will return, resign at year’s end” (TNT, 5-6).

Often our best teachers get lured into administrative positions, primarily due to the tremendous pay differential. To criticize and censure a principal for being willing to keep in touch with the classroom and students is unbelievable. To teach a 0 hour class in a difficult subject should be applauded.

There seems to be no evidence that the principal wasn’t fulfilling his administrative duties; not too many 0 hour meetings take place, I would assume. Keeping in contact with the teachers and their perspectives and the students and their enthusiasm and trials has to make him an outstanding example of what a principal can be.
