TPD: These ‘good guys’ fell down on the job

Re: “TNT foments public’s distrust” (letter, 5-3).

The writer tells your newspaper to lay off the Tacoma Police Department on the Zina Linnick abduction and murder simply because they’re “good guys.” She has to be out of her mind.

Good guys don’t fail to do their job when it comes to issuing an Amber Alert that could save a kid’s life. Nor do they cover up a failed Amer Alert for four long years.

Who is to say they covered it up? They are good guys. They may have made a mistake but they learned from it and have made changes. This was their first attempt at an Amber Alert. Read today’s paper too…it will shed some light for you.

  2. Pecksbadboy says:

If they made a mistake why are we hearing about it just now after a law suit has been filed. Sounds like a “Good Ole Boy” cover up to me and everyone else.

  3. TheSlag says:

Being a cop does not a good boy make. You gotta be honest and transparent in your actions. Oh, and don’t be on drugs while on duty.
btw, they had just come back from Hawaii where they trained for amber alerts. We all wish they would have paid attention…

  4. ItalianSpring says:

An Amber alert would not have saved her life, and if you people knew the details you would know that. Besides about 99.9999999% of Amber alerts are issued with bad/false info about the circumstances as they are usually a custody dispute between bad and separated parents where one parent is lying about the child being kidnapped. Yep.

  5. ItalianSpring says:

Being a cop does not a bad boy make, either. But it does imply good FAR more than bad.

  6. TheSlag says:

Interesting you take the killer/rapist for an honest guy and have no issue with police lies. Cops are just as likely a crook as anybody else. There is no super breed.
They had the right amber alert info from the family right away. Including plate number. Your insinuation about the family is so low; tells where you are coming from. Not worth talking to.
