OBAMA: Follow money to predict behavior

Dana Milbank’s article, “Understanding Obama: It’s . . . complicated” (TNT, 4-28), is correct. If you study the complicated language of social psychologists and economists specializing in behavior and emotions, it seems nearly impossible to understand, as well as to predict, Barack Obama’s behavior.

We do know that, unpredictably, he has gone back on some of his campaign promises, losing the affection of many of his early and youthful followers.

Perhaps a better way to understand the president’s past and future behavior is simply to follow the money into his coffers. Track carefully who gives what to his campaigns and efforts. This will tell to whom he is beholden.

This is why full and public disclosure of campaign financing, easily accessible to voters and published often in mass media, is essential for the health of our democracy. I also suggest it be put into the voter’s pamphlet in each election, or least referenced as to where to easily find it.

  1. Bill, if you had expanded your statement to include ALL politicians then I would congratulate you for stating the obvious but, since you have narrowed your focus to only one politician you are just another Obamaphobe.

  2. Interesting how the right has fits when Obama and the Dems solicit funds, but defend the right of Rcon and Tpot candidates to receive unlimited amounts of Corporate and PAC money

  3. Bill, do me a favor, apply your opinion to GOP which you seem to think is faultless.
Let me know how you get along.

  4. xring – I will defend your sides right to “receive unlimited amounts of” Union and PAC money… fair and square don’t ya think?

  5. xx,
I would prefer that only registered voters be allowed to donate a max of $250 per election cycle. No Corps, cpacs, Uions, or any other institutions or organizations allowed/

  6. Bill – you must be really unhappy that Obama made fools of you folks with his birth certificate.

Possibly you could complain that he has bad breath.

  7. The President of the United States of America, the most powerful man in the most powerful office of the most powerful nation in all the world recently gave the press a briefing in the White House press room. The subject was a singular subject – a birth certificate… his birth certificate… that’s it…

One can only speculate as to why but the most vocal person who had the attention of the willing media, questioning the birthplace of the president was Donald Trump. A bombastic, egotistical New Yaker. Who’s latest claim to fame is, in spite of mulitple bankruptcies, erronous statements, gawdy hotels and casinos is a reality TV show. It seems that every time he opens his big mouth it is about him seeking some sort of publicity. His ego is so big that he actually took credit for the release of the birth certificate.

Again, one can only speculate, why now?

Who’s the fool here Kardy? I think the word is fools… plural.

  8. And again….since xx is posting his garbage on two forums….

This bets the comparison of the early NFL quarterbacks who – if they ran for a touchdown they were “showboats” and if they threw an interception they were stupid”

One can only speculate why Obama is wrong no matter what he does.

If Obama is in the forest and a Conservative isn’t around to notice, is he still mixed race?

  9. The sad part of all of this is that “xx” actually spent a fair amount of time composing that “damned if you do/damned if you don’t” scenario and thinks it’s going to gain traction by repeating it over and over…..

(posted on another thread in response to calling the birthers – fool. Thought it might apply here also considering the subject)

You see, rational people have watched Obama ignore this dog and pony show for 3 years and wonder how he is so patient. “xx” has taken the time to work up a conclusion that Obama is to blame for (a) being born in Hawaii (b) not responding for 3 years to the catcalls and (c) providing that the detractors were fools and liars.

If Obama were a defense attorney, as opposed to President of the United States, and demonstrated in court that his client was innocent, he’d be guilty of acknowledging that anyone called his client guilty in the first place.

  10. You left out the part that I acknowledge posting it on two threads. Guilty of omission.

Quarterbacks??? what??? Please the subject is about Obama, politics and money…. now if Obama played football then I could see the connection. Basketball and golf are his games of choice.

Now he is “patient” oh please, the carnival barker made the White House respond… at any given moment in this political mess I can decide who are the bigger fools… those that hog the spotlight spouting nonsense or those from the peanut gallery that actually RESPONDED to the nonsense… pitiful either way.

Reading your “logical” summations… too much fun and entertaining.

  11. Roncella says:

Milbanks is right on. When it comes to President Obama its Always Follow The Money, and you will see exactly what direction he is going in.

He has over a Billion dollars already and is accumulating many more millions each day as his compaign swings all over the Country are going on full speed ahead now. Its easy to figure out just what Obama’s next move is, just Follow The Money …..

  12. Fundraising – good when Republicans do it, bad when Democrats do it.

  13. ehill, The point is how much more money does Obama need ??

Maybe he should get to work on the many many problems (some he caused) facing the Nation and hurting all Americans. Ya Know, like doing his job in the Whitehouse, not taking special vacations and trips spending money like water, while the Government is almost bankrupt.

  14. the vacations meme again – been disproven on this board many times.

But the truth doesn’t matter to the regressive right.

  15. MissInformed says:

Bill, this sounds like a terrific idea! I think we should take this one step farther, and make all politicians and lobbyists wear “NASCAR” style jumpsuits emblazoned with the corporate logos of their sponsors. The first step to changing our world is to identify our problems and recognize their severity. There is no doubt that we need to take back the control of our government. By the People, for the People. Term limits and campaign finance reform would go a long way towards this end. The problem is this will never happen because the people benefiting from the current system are instrumental to it’s revision. One way we may be able to get around this conundrum is through ballet initiative. I’m thinking about filing one and starting a petition, any supporters out there??

  16. “Maybe he should get to work on the many many problems (some he caused) facing the Nation and hurting all Americans.”

    —————–

Fundraising: good when Republicans do it. Bad when Democrats do it. Thanks once again for proving my point.

  17. Missinformed – great idea but the Courts have upheld politicians’ right to lie so enforcing transparency about who the prostitutes’ Johns are probably in unenforceable.

  18. Obama is Soro’s puppet. That’s where his money and the money for all of the socialists policies come from. I just wish he could get Soros to pay his fuel bill for Air Force One. That would certainly put a dent in our deficit.

  19. frosty – any evidence that Soros is pulling the strings?

  20. beerboy, is there any evidence that Soros is NOT paying the bills? He has his fingers in all of these leftist associations anyone who pays attention knows that.

  21. Roncella says:

beerBoy, Its very interesting to me that Geroge Soro’s that slimey slug has had numerous visits to the Whitehouse since Obama has been President.

He was never invited to the Whitehouse while Bush was President.

  22. beerBoy says:

frosty – it is impossible to prove a negative.

He has his fingers in all of these leftist associations anyone who pays attention knows that.

Anyone who pays attention and gives credence to Glenn Beck’s paranoid ramblings perhaps……
