BUDGET: Read the heart of our nation

There is an old saying: “Look at a person’s checkbook, and you will read the person’s heart.”

Lately the media haver been awash with the federal checkbook – i.e. budget proposals, one by the president and the other by Rep. Paul Ryan. Yet there is another checkbook being proposed called “The People’s Budget,” signed onto by 80 members of Congress, that is quite different than those of the president and Ryan, and reveals a different heart. But little is mentioned about this proposal in our mass media.

Why is this?

  1. nwcolorist says:

Now that Rep. Ryan has submitted a serious blueprint for reducing the deficit, the Dems have hastily thrown together a competing “plan”.

It’s my guess that we will only hear about the Obama’s plan in the MSM from now on. No competition allowed in liberal land.

Ryan’s plan is a joke, but you keep telling yourself that it is serious, has a chance of succeeding, and that it would actually be good for the country. Just imagine those aging baby boomers choosing between food and medical care. But hey, you must be rich so no worries for you right? That voucher would cover all your medical needs-riiiggghhhhtttt.

    What???

    Where???

I goggled your old saying and came up blanko.

  4. “There’s an old saying in Tennessee — I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.”

    ————————————————–

A 75 year plan for balancing the budget is now the bar for “serious blueprints”?

  6. “It’s my guess that we will only hear about the Obama’s plan in the MSM from now on. No competition allowed in liberal land.”

    Simple solution. Just watch FOX.

Of course NBC interviewed only Michelle Bachmann on Today before the Obama speech. But we won’t mention that because it would indicate that they weren’t balanced in their coverage.

  7. “That voucher would cover all your medical needs-riiiggghhhhtttt”

We had over $8,000 out of pocket medical…..along with insurance coverage in 2010.

I just can’t wait to turn 65. Medicare and Paul Ryan will take care of us.

  8. Oh..and my cost of Rx will increase because I won’t be part of a union pharmacy program….

    UNION!!!

    ::::::::::::::horrified look:::::::::::::::::::

All they do is take money…right?

  9. A 75 year plan for balancing the budget is now the bar for “serious blueprints”?

Doesn’t that clue you in that we have spent and continue to spend way too much money?

I hope you are letting people know that Ryan’s plan reducding the deficit spending in 8-10 years and pays of the national debt in 35 years…

We have spent so much that it will take that much time to reduce the debt (OK all together now… it’s BUSH’s fault… feel better???)

  10. Hey Fibonacci and X_zero. I haven’t heard you comment on your Messiah’s
speech. Apparently, we can’t reduce the deficit because 50 million people will lose their health insurance. How does one dream up such poppycock. Oh, by the way, X_zero, Paul Ryan is not in the business of providing handouts. What’s the problem, can’t you take of yourself? Oh, I get it! Another nanny.

One reason why Ryan’s Folly will take 75 years to balance the budget (but not the debt) is it continues to cut taxes for the top 2%.

  12. xring you are flat out wrong… plaqy right or not at all…

  13. Rollo_Tomassi says:

When someone writes checks that they cannot fund, does that not show that the writer has the heart of a thief?

How mush worse is it when what they steal is taken from their children and grandchildren?

  14. bobcat1a says:

Ryan’s plan is just like the one Boehner persuaded his people to vote for. It says it cuts $38.5 BILLION but it only really cuts $365 MILLION. Usual smoke and mirrors.
Not that that’s a bad thing given that cutting spending in the middle of trying to emerge from a recession is economic suicide. Remember, Dick Cheney said (and I quote), “Deficits don’t matter.”

  15. Hey Bobcat1a, I believe economics 101 class awaits your arrival.

  16. xring – what are you arguing for…. or against if you prefer… you just seem to be slinging.

  17. Xx – I am against Ryan’s Folly because it won’t work and will destroy the working and middle classes while protecting the top 2%.

  18. So, I guess you are a no vote then… OK got it.
