TACOMA: City needs better parking meter signage

I liked the letter written by a store owner explaining how considerate a meter reader was to one of her customers (TNT, 3-24). Unfortunately, I had no such luck Friday evening when I forgot we were in paid-parking territory when we dined at Over the Moon.

I saw the sign “Parking” and was delighted as I was able to park close to the alley, get out Mom’s walker and walk her down to the restaurant.

I do get downtown, and have even used a meter, but mainly I’m in private parking areas. I forgot all about the meters – mea culpa. I do think it would be a nice idea for restaurants to have signs reminding folks if they have paid for their parking. Or change the parking signs to read “Pay Parking Only.”

Or we could just continue to use the Proctor District for dining, or all those other good restaurants with free parking.

Tacoma paid the Jayray Company $50,000 to inform people like Beatrice about the parking meters. Can we have our money back?

Please, TNT, stop printing these whiny letters. No one cares that this woman failed to read the sign that says she parked in a paid parking spot. She wants everyone else to remind her so she can float through life pretending she didn’t know because no one reminded her and the signs were not clear enough. Poppy cock. Hopefully she was ticketed.

Will the last person to shop downtown Tacoma close the door and turn out the lights. When revenue vains from the parking meters they will put up the traffic cams. It’s all about revenue because everyone else is avoiding the payment of city and state the taxes due.

Keep starving them, it’s working. Go team go!!!

Follow the lead of the tribes and GE, pay no tax, just campaign donations to obama and democrats.
