TACOMA: Roof issue was handled badly

Re: “Cheney Stadium’s receding roofline” (TNT, 3-20).

I am excited about the new venue and all the new amenities; Tacoma fans need them and deserve them. But I am really disappointed that there seems to have been some shenanigans going on with the powers to be and shortsighted thinking by some key people about the roof issue.

I, for one, cannot sit in a rainy seat in June or bake in August. Perhaps the selection committee et al will give up their seats to help our seniors enjoy the great game of baseball.

Fully agree with your comments. Also, in the summer the wind picks up off the Sound and you can get really cold sitting out in the unprotected areas (limited side walls too) after the 5th inning or so.
Clearly the designers planned it from the comfort of their offices, not from real experience. Money badly spent.

  2. Pat:

Lets get together and run the concession that sells little umbrella hats.

    We’ll make a million!!!

Put on the sunscreen and enjoy the right field bleachers. It will remind you of the good old days of Tightwad Hill.

When does it get hot enough in August for anyone to Bake?
