POLITICS: Right wing is throwing us under the bus

The 30-year war by the radical right on the poor, working poor and middle class is just about complete.

With the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision allowing corporations to pour unlimited amounts of anonymous money into elections, the uber wealthy like the radical right-wing Koch brothers have now purchased and installed radical governors as their poodles in many of our states.

Their goal: to create a subservient class of peons, too beaten down, poor and lacking in any means to mount a political challenge to their rule.

They mean to impose on us a future that in many ways will resemble, say Mexico, where only a handful of families have the bulk of the wealth and power. Already in this country, 400 individuals control as much wealth as do 155 million of the rest of us.

Their poodle in Michigan has already effectively ended democracy in that state. His Republican-controlled legislature has given him dictatorial powers to declare any city, town or school district as to be in financial danger and as such he now can remove any elected official from office, fire any government worker and abrogate union contracts as his personal appointee may see fit.

Still think we can’t lose our freedoms? I’m talking about real freedom and not the braying from the right about losing freedoms because of a health care bill.

America, the land of the soon to be formerly free.
