POLITICS: Right wing is throwing us under the bus

Letter by Michael Bowler, Buckley on March 10, 2011 at 11:47 am with 56 Comments »
March 10, 2011 11:47 am

The 30-year war by the radical right on the poor, working poor and middle class is just about complete.

With the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision allowing corporations to pour unlimited amounts of anonymous money into elections, the uber wealthy like the radical right-wing Koch brothers have now purchased and installed radical governors as their poodles in many of our states.

Their goal: to create a subservient class of peons, too beaten down, poor and lacking in any means to mount a political challenge to their rule.

They mean to impose on us a future that in many ways will resemble, say Mexico, where only a handful of families have the bulk of the wealth and power. Already in this country, 400 individuals control as much wealth as do 155 million of the rest of us.

Their poodle in Michigan has already effectively ended democracy in that state. His Republican-controlled legislature has given him dictatorial powers to declare any city, town or school district as to be in financial danger and as such he now can remove any elected official from office, fire any government worker and abrogate union contracts as his personal appointee may see fit.

Still think we can’t lose our freedoms? I’m talking about real freedom and not the braying from the right about losing freedoms because of a health care bill.

America, the land of the soon to be formerly free.

  1. Wow, talk about “stoking fears”… (the good thing about this letter and others like it is I never have to listen or watch LWnut media in order to know what their current talking points are) I see the new LWnut boogey man (men) is Koch.

I don’t suppose the writer has ever heard of Soros…

  2. The Gop is nothing but a cult for rich white men. This is Reagan’s leagacy to America. The total destruction of the middle class. The goal of the Gop is to eliminate the middle class and make all Americans wage slaves to the corportations. Walker’s actions clearly tell us he was interested in breaking the unions and trying to do it by lying about budget concerns. Now we know Walker, like all Republiicans, lie to their rank and file cult members and to the good, decent Americans who see exactly what the GOP is, a cult for rich white men.
All these poor exploited Republicans that respond in this forum only parrot the lies, myths and delusions they are fed. The thought stopping phrases constantly ejaculated by the Gop rank and file only highlights their cult like behavior. If you notice, a typical Gop rank and file member in here, really never answers any question posed to them. They can’t explain their ideology… they only BELIEVE in it. Cult dogma only needs to be believed. They do not need empirical evidence. We know from reserch that people who hold false beliefs will not change their minds even in light of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. The NEED TO BELIEVE is more salient and important to these poor gullible people. Until the deluded rank and file republicans wake up and understand they are being exploited American will not be FOR AMERIACNS BY AMERICANS. We can thank the GOP for the destruction of the country known as The United States of America.

  3. Both Micheal and Sue1234 are completely correct about the GOP, however in my opinion the Dems are not much better. In the 30 year war as Micheal calls it, the Dems have not been without power, and yet they have done little. Globalization has been supported by both parties. Jobs have been leaving our country from 1973 on-wards, which is about the time we had begun promoting “free” trade. Free trade works for the rich in the smaller countries, it does not help the working class in the USA.

  4. Other than a six year period during the last decade, the gubmint was run by the you-know-who party. During that six year hiatus, the GOP did their duty as caretakers for the you-know-who party and merely slowed the rate of plunder.

Now the you-know-who party has been back for six years and a newcomer called the tea party has crashed the party. Somehow, fixing the problems of the two sweetheart parties means that one of them is to blame for everything and the other is nothing but saints.

This reminds me of the average divorce proceeding – he said she said, and the most important thing is to blame everything on one of the two.

No, whiners, us tea partiers don’t own this and the GOP is much less to blame than the face in your mirror. It’s over, and your conduct in the correction of failure will be the legacy you wear. Either whine like babies and lie about everything or roll up your sleeves and help clean up the mess. Most of us on the tea side don’t particularly care about who is to blame as much as we care about preserving what is being destroyed. You whiners never did lead anywhere but to doom and now you whine about having to follow.

Enough. You had your time and you blew it.

  5. FLASH! This information should make the liberals see RED! The authorities
have started removing the union thugs form the Wisconsin State House. Hurrah, Hurrah, Hurrah! Go, conservatives Go!

  6. GHTaxPayer says:

Under Obama, we now have RECORD HIGH Unemployment, Food Stamps, Foreclosures, and a whopping 32% of American citizens are on the government dole. Since the DEMOCRATS have had control of Congress since 2006 with a supermajority from 2007 – 2010, all of these horrible problems fall squarely on the shoulders of the DEMOCRATS.

And to make matters worse, Obama has added more to the Federal debt THAN ALL OTHER PRESIDENTS COMBINED.

Yes, Virginia, there really is a devil, and his name is Barack Obama. His minions are the Democratic party. They gain power by spreading lies and playing fraudulent class warfare.

  7. TheOutlawJoseyWhales says:

Nobody is throwing you under a bus. They are simply allowing you to be responsible for your own fate. If that’s too much to ask, then you should examine your character, your honor, and your education. Stop making us responsible for feeding you, clothing you, providing you with all the creature comforts that come to those who work hard and make sacrifices. And above all, STOP WHINING!

  8. The Democratic Party is nothing but a cult. This is Roosevelt’s legacy to America. The total destruction of both the upper and middle class. The goal of the Democratic Party is to eliminate the upper and middle class and make all Americans wage slaves to the government. Democratic governor’s actions clearly tell us they were interested in promoting the unions at the expense of the middle class and trying to do it by lying about budget concerns. Now we know Democratic governor’s, like all Democrats, lie to their rank and file cult members and to the good, decent Americans who see exactly what the DEMOCRATIC PARTY is, a cult.

All these poor exploited Democrats that respond in this forum only parrot the lies, myths and delusions they are fed. The thought stopping phrases constantly ejaculated by the Democratic Party rank and file only highlights their cult like behavior. If you notice, a typical Democratic Party rank and file member in here, really never answers any question posed to them. They can’t explain their ideology… they only BELIEVE in it. Cult dogma only needs to be believed. They do not need empirical evidence. We know from research that people who hold false beliefs will not change their minds even in light of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. The NEED TO BELIEVE is more salient and important to these poor gullible people. Until the deluded rank and file Democrats wake up and understand they are being exploited American will not be FOR AMERIACNS BY AMERICANS. We can thank the DEMOCRATIC PARTY for the destruction of the country known as The United States of America.

  9. GHTaxPayer says:

Liberals specialize in whining. Just look at the the union thugs (election losers) in Wisconsin.

WAAAAAAH !! I won’t be able to smoke pot on the job anymore !

WAAAAAAH !! I may have to contribute to my own retirement fund !!

  10. WAAAAAAH !! I won’t be able to get woody’s anymore!

  11. Sue1234 – I wanna be like you… ;)

  12. slasmith says:

The Democrats strategy for getting and retaining power is to keep the poor poor by giving them welfare and telling them how much they are being given they buy the vote of the poor. If they truly wanted to be a friend to the poor they would offer opportunity and real education not a hand out but a hand up.

  13. I see Rachel Maddow and Michael Moore had two viewers last night(I watch for the entertainment value). Me and this goofball that wrote this letter. Those wealthy people provide the jobs for the middle class.

  14. taxedenoughintacoma says:

    Mr. Bowler,
I think you view of America is slanted left. The real threat comes from the left and the level of debt they have caused.

Uncle Sam is spending you into the poorhouse. Taxes, inflation, unemployment, interest rates – all could skyrocket if Washington keeps spending trillions of dollars it doesn’t have. Unless we begin to cut spending now (a lot of spending) these four horsemen of debt will ride roughshod over families and businesses already struggling to get by. Fortunately, we still have a chance to kick the spending addiction and keep the American Dream alive.

The GOP has a mandate from the voters to rein in the debt.

  15. concernedtacoma7 says:

“effectively ended democracy “?? Were there not elections in every state in America this year? What a pile of garbage.

  16. “If they truly wanted to be a friend to the poor they would offer opportunity and real education not a hand out but a hand up.”

Actually, if they wanted to help the poor, they would stop drinking the corporatocracy Kool-Aid and put a stop to the trade imbalance.

  17. Pgroup – the Speaker of the House was a republican for 10 of the last 16 years, while a Democrat (Pelosi) held it for 4 years.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Speakers_of_the_United_States_House_of_Representatives
Name party Time as Speaker of the house
    Newt Gingrich GOP` 3 years, 361 days, from 1995 to 1999
Dennis Hastert GOP 7 years, 359 days from 1999 to 2007
John Boehner GOP 0 years 64 days as of March 2011, (from Jan 2011 to ??)

Sum GOP = 12 years, 54 days. of the past 16 years.

Flash: to see red look at Pgroup’s face. Oh, sorry, neocons have no shame.

    GHT :
As of Feb 2011, unemployment is reported to be 8.9%, while the high over th last 2 years was 10.5%, the highest rate on record is 23.6 in 1932 (the year FDR was elected).

Total U.S. is $14,227 billion, of which only 4.2 billion has been added under the Obama Adminsistration

    http://seekingalpha.com/instablog/239719-james-quinn/18242-national-debt-by-year

    GOP 7,508 billion (56%)
    DEM 5,811 billion (44%)

Rr – the cult is the cult of right wing know nothings

  18. WOW – another Rainier School Honor Student calling the kettle black !!!

  19. xring – the cult is the cult of left wing know nothings

  20. FLASH! In Wisconsin, the thugs are out! Democracy is back in! Looking for
Dittos in other states too. “Liberals, you’re taking a whomping!” And, 2012 is not here yet!

  21. Blaine, calling me a communist only tells me that you are grossly uneducated and unaware of your lack of intellectual competency.
There is a cognitive bias, called the Dunning Kruger Effect. This bias essentially points out that some people are so intellectually incompetent due to their profound lack of metacognitive skills that they are unable to see their lack of intellect. iBasically. it is a person who is too stupid to know just how stupid he actually is; people suffering from this bias will consider themselves the smartest one and the person who is actually intellectually competent as the stupid one. The entire GOP rank and file suffer from this bias. How do I know this? The letters written by any GOP member contains no factual information just right out lies.
Blaine calling me a communist offers no real information other than your lack of intellect.

  22. For all of you who want to doubt the GOP is nothing more than a sociopathic cult let me ask you a question.
What do you call a group of people who all hold the same delusions, repeat over and over, verbatim, what they are told and who claims only their way is the right way for everyone? ….. a cult.. and the GOP

  23. Sue, sweety, lets be fair… he never said you were a communist… he said you ejaculated and regurgitated… ahhh, information of course…

I would invite you to go to a Conservative site, suck information into that brain of yours, process it… you will find that instead of ejaculating and regurgitating, you will instead, analyze and process… ahhh, information of course.

  24. “What do you call a group of people who all hold the same delusions, repeat over and over, verbatim, what they are told and who claims only their way is the right way for everyone? ….. Liberals, sweetie, Liberals

  25. “There is a cognitive bias, called the Dunning Kruger Effect.”

Is it kinda like this this Sue…

  26. crappyemailname says:

Reading this message board is proof to me that things in this country will never get better. Is anyone even aware of the concept of compromise?

All I’ve gotten from reading this is a bunch of:

My side is right, always right, 100% of the time. Your side is wrong, always wrong, 100% of the time and your side seeks to destroy America and it’s principles.

Way to think unbiased and from a higher perspective everyone!

Congratulations to you all, for you’ve all already lost to the corrupt, greedy and unethical power hungry who have already won. While you’re busy fighting amongst each other with vitriol and easily marketed slogans you fall into the trap and ignore the real issues, such as the massive centralization of power and wealth that’s taken place in this country for over 30 years and who those benefactors have been.

For every conspiracy, coup, political movement, war, down turn or up turn in the economy there’s always been bankers behind it, ready to fund, ready to ready the rewards from it and I guarantee you they don’t care about party squabbles.

Enjoy your lives of indentured servitude…by the way that call that debt now.

  27. JudasEscargot says:

rr – Is your next line – “I know you are but what am I?”

  28. JudasEscargot says:

    “taxedenoughintacoma says:

    Mr. Bowler,
I think you view of America is slanted left. The real threat comes from the left and the level of debt they have caused.”

I see, George Bush and the GOP Congress of 2001 to 2007 was “from the left”

  29. Judas I am under no illusions I am acting like a 12 year old… the difference between me and you is that one of us is suffering from that Dunning thingy and doesnt know it.

These sort of discussion threads head for the gutter early and stay there… instead of pretending to be holier than thou, I decided to join you guys in the gutter…

The kool-aid does taste between from a glass instead of these puddles… doesn’t it?

  30. Ah the big bogy man Soros at 14 billion, the 35th richest person in the world. Well behind Charles and David Koch, tied for 24h at 17.5 billion each; Alice Walton (16th at 20.6 billion) and Jim Walton at 20.7 billion).

And less not forget Soros did not contribute any funds to the 2010 election, unlike the other 4 names on the above list.

Concened: elections this year. Nope, they were last year, but expect to see some in Wisconsin in the next 4 months.

Uscha, the only thugs in Wisconsin were Walkers Winnies not only did they take down the Assembly Minority Leader (a Democrate naturally) but did so in front of the TV cameras.

  31. “And less not forget Soros did not contribute any funds to the 2010 election, unlike the other 4 names on the above list.”

He knew his ROI was not going to be worth it…

  32. rr, you missed the point, as usual, Sorso was not a factor in the 2010 election, much as the repulicons would like the base to think he was.

  33. donjames says:

Michael Bowler, Buckley, histrionics much? If you seriously think not, you might consider self-commiting @ Western State. Or you could simply join xring, Judy, and sue’s Toyota fan/ soduku/ knitting club/ mutual admiration society – same thing.

pgroup, that post is a home run – says it all. Thanks!

  34. crappyemailname – I’m afraid you may be right. Divide and conquer is in full effect.

  35. The right wing has the unique ability to unite the left, the working class.

There are members of the working class who vote for GOP candidates due to wedge issues like abortion, or guns, but the GOP then turns around and slaps them in the paycheck to wake them up.

Thank you Gov. Walker. May I have another?

  36. Republicon real speak: union thug; any union member uppity enough to stand up for their rights and freedom.

  37. Just a personal observation re Wisconsin demonstrations: How come the pro union groups carried obviously handmade signs while the anti-union group carried professional printed ones?

  38. FLASH! Gov.Walker recently signed the bill which limits union negotiation.
The “Winds of Freedom” are once again blowing in Wisconsin.

  39. Winds of oppression. Bills which limit are oppressive, uscha.

  40. The days are over whereby Union thugs can hold the Wisconsin State government hostage.

  41. Roncella says:

Michael, Please do yourself a favor. Stop watching and listening and believing the mis-information dished out on MSNBC, Mr. Ed, Rachel Maddow, Chris Mathews(tinkling legs).

You will find your out look on life will improve and your overall health will improve, especially, your mental Health. Get your news from other sources, it will be difficult as so many lean left to far left.

  42. Uscha, It seems michaels letter has caused many of the leftest extreme liberals who post here to go bizerk, with some of them that did not take much to begin with.

  43. You are correct, Roncella. When one does not agree with these radical leftists,
they go “Bonkers.” Reading their comments is better than being at the circus.
    “Laughs Galore!”

  44. “Laughs Galore!”

Typical righty who enjoys the misfortunes of others.

I wouldn’t want to be like you.

  45. Pologo,
Notice how the right-wingers hold FOX news to be the sun source all fair and truthful news and opinions while condemning all others sources as far left?

  46. Michael, Thanks for making my day! I wish more liberals would concede that the right wing is winning. There for a while I was concerned that the commie left was winning. But now that the republicans can match the union money that the dems have been getting for many years, maybe your right, we may be winning. One can only hope.

  47. xring those “fist” posters were not what you may be used to, they are actually communist signs used exclusively by leftists and other radical trash and they were professionally made.

  48. Frosty, Communist posters show a fist holding a tool or other implement.

The clenched fist alone is a symbol of resistance and unity.

    http://www.docspopuli.org/articles/Fist.html

  49. It never ceases to amaze me when I realize that there are still Birchers blathering on out there…….

  50. bB- your posts seem to be based upon the bing commercials of bits of tangential information gleaned by non-targeted searches.
Clean your cookies and browsing history…

  51. Don’t use bing.

  52. Kooky…

  53. For a look at how the right wing views workers and the middle class go to:

    http://english.aljazeera.net/indepth/opinion/2011/03/20113685813934602.html

  54. This past Friday, Japan was devastated by a massive earthquake and

tsunami. The impact of the tsunami was felt in Hawaii and along the US

west coast. Due mainly to the U.S. Tsunami Early Warning System the lose

of life in Hawaii and here was minimal.

The Rest of the Story: the GOP plans to defund the system by $126 million.

  55. xring, so you get your news from aljazeera? Why am I not surprised? BTW, the “fist poster” that you’re so in love with has a very close likeness to the one with Obama gazing at the heavens kind of like the ones I’ve seen of Lenin and Marx. Coincidence?

  56. I also get news from the Christian Science Monitor.

Conincidence: no just different images, with different means.
