SCHOOLS: Teacher deserves district support

I read with disgust about the 7-year-old Lacey boy who was taped to his school desk chair by his teacher (TNT, 3-7).

Shame on the North Thurston School District for not backing the teacher 100 percent. And shame on the mother who instead of telling her child to behave in class, gets angry at the teacher for doing the mother’s job. The school district should have told the mother to go fly a kite.

This child was embarrassed? Good. Maybe he’ll behave in class. No, probably not. The school district says it will investigate and give the teacher a letter of direction. The child will now know that all he has to do is cry to mommy when something doesn’t go his way and she’ll take care of it.

Here’s a suggestion for the letter of direction: Job well done. Next time use duct tape; it holds better.

The disruptive child is subject to discipline by the teacher that does not inflict personal injury – embarrassment not included!! I vote for the duct tape and a failing grade plus a reprimand from the principal for the parents who did not competently raise their children!!!

I was told by my parents to obey all teachers I had. If I did not, my parents would immediately see that the behavior was permanently stopped. I would have been knocked across a room, and I knew I would be if I tried anything. My parents had absolutely ZERO tolerance for misbehavior from us kids. We did what we were told.

Hey Karl, don’t you have some witches to go dunk or someone to put in the stockade?

The teacher is guilty of bullying and she is teaching the child that bullying is okay. When we will we ever learn?

  4. letsworkitout says:

Bullying? Please. That is perhaps one of the more ridiculous comments I’ve seen. A strip of tape that doesn’t harm the kid and serves as a reminder to keep his butt in his seat is hardly bullying. That namby pamby nonsense is why kids run rampant in society.

  5. whitecap says:

Right on Karl. I’m willing to bet that this kid is going to be a royal pain in the you-know-what if Mommy keeps this up.
