Re: “City challenges vinyl windows” (TNT, 2-23).
As Diane Burke’s neighbor, I felt I needed to share my thoughts on her and those vinyl windows that have everyone in a tizzy.
This woman has enhanced our neighborhood and her home. She’s set up neighborhood parties, helped facilitate permit parking for the residents and encouraged foot traffic to help themselves to her annual bumper crop of tomatoes
Watching this situation unfold over the last few years has got me wondering why the city is wasting our money going after her when she’s done nothing to deserve this. She was simply trying to make her home affordable. It’s ridiculous that her front vinyl windows are allowed to stay in, but the ones on the sides and in back must be removed. Let’s have a sanity check.
We’ve already lost one neighbor to foreclosure. We’re like family here, and I don’t understand why there’s been no attempt to work this situation out.
