The other day I patronized a business in the paid parking section of downtown Tacoma. My friend and I managed to come up with the right amount of change.
I, as well as many others, do not like to put a 75 cent or $1.50 charge on a credit card. The city could resolve some of the paid parking issues by developing a prepaid, reloadable card that parking meters could read and deduct the amount of time the patron desired.
These cards could be purchased at grocery stores, banks and in the local business establishments. This would make it unnecessary for customers to run into a business in search of change. The city would have the money, before the parking was used, and any unused monies would belong to the city.
