MARIJUANA: No reason to smoke pot for ‘health reasons’

Re: medical marijuana.

Three different pills are available that contain the active ingredient in marijuana that people do find helpful. Any legitimate doctor can prescribe one of these meds for cancer patients, those with chronic illnesses or other symptoms that these pills may alleviate.

No legitimate doctor that would encourage or prescribe to patients to inhale dirty smoke into their lungs. There is no reason to smoke marijuana for “health” reasons. Anyone who says they believe that is just kidding themselves.

(Buzzelli is a registered nurse.)

She’s a registered nurse, eh? Well, I guess that’s not quite a pharmacologist, is it? How much peer-reviewed research has she published on the subject, following her deep research, of course?

  2. vingrotto says:

Thank you bobcat1a! I thought the same thing. Patty, very few medical marijauna patients actually smoke this miracle of nature. Most ingest it, rather than rely on a chemically produced pharmaceutical that cost more than their monthly mortgage payment/rent. Perhaps you should think about some continued education. Wow.

  3. smcelhiney says:

    A) no need to smoke it. Patient can eat it in food, use a vaporizer etc.

    B) the meds brought up tend to have bad side effects and often do not work, they are straight THC, missing all the other complex components that make pot work and dosing it a problem.

    C) smoking pot does not increase your risk of cancer, check out the studies. Cancer rates of chronic pot smokers are statistically the same (numerically lower) than non-smokers. Using marijuana has also been shown to reduce the size of certain types of cancer.

    D) following her argument, tobacco should be outlawed… along with coal, internal combustion engines and everything else that might have a side effect from it’s emissions entering our lungs.

    E) as a nurse she should be well aware of the side effects of many commonly available drugs… liver failure, heart attacks, death. Drugs prescribed for things like skin blemishes, depression, general aches and pains and various forms of ring around the collar.

thank you for your letter Ms. Buzzelli. i agree with most of what you say.

God bless America and help us keep our country free!

  5. Tummler says:

Ya. Vaporizers and pot brownies kind of rendered this letter pointless. Oh, and the fallacious argument.
