PUYALLUP: State should be investigating

Letter by Lewis E. Pugh Jr., Puyallup on Jan. 14, 2011 at 12:32 pm with 7 Comments »

Re: “Puyallup raising fees to cover settlement” (TNT, 1-13).

I see where the Puyallup City Council voted 5-2 for the citizens of Puyallup to pay increased landfill fees to pay off the $2 million lawsuit agreement.

The records clearly showed that there were problems with the landfill prior to the building permit being issued in 2004. Maybe it’s time for the state to investigate this landfill problem to ensure no profits were made on the backs of our citizens, especially since building permits have already been issued for more housing close to the same landfill.

Well said Mr Pugh. What other skeletons are in the closet with the mayors fingerprints and DNA. ? I smell more lost lawsuits and settlements coming. She’s a real gem.

  2. The problem is fundamental. We’ve designed our governments with
a built in dependence on big business. Look at the 35 million dollar
radio system Motorola built. There goes the bank account.

  3. Mudwhistle_Lightening says:

    Time for an independent counsel.

  4. puyallupmutt says:

All the independent counsel would need is
    a. a copy of the TPC report on county landfills
    b. a copy of the approved building permits
    c. view the cover up BS offered by Turner, Carlson and Craig on the city webcasts.
    All are widely available

Is municipal fraud a state or federal crime ? So will they end up in Walla Walla or Marion or better still Supermax ?

  5. CrazyJim says:

I remember when building started over in that area. I thought it was a little strange at the time because I knew that is where there was a dump site not so long ago. I just didn’t know how long it had been a dump site so dismissed my concerns trusting the people who make these decisions.

    Boy! Was I wrong!

Who was the mayor back then? Oh yea, Turner. Nuff said!

  6. TheOutlawJoseyWhales says:

This thing is more likely to be a federal RICO issue. Someone has been coerced by racketeers. This is a huge problem that needs exposure before it escalates and people get hurt.

  7. puyallupmutt says:

The fact that the WWOTW is instituting term limits and as such will stand down from the council at the end of the year and all these lost lawsuits is not a coincidence.
The arrogance of City Hall, its attorneys and the “Mayor for Life” is coming back to hurt the citizens in their wallets.
Does she care ? heck no. She only pays 15% of her property taxes and a small fraction of a dumpster fee. All her screw ups cost us, not Turner.
