I was out of town and unable to attend the Dec. 7 Puyallup City Council meeting, so I watched the replay on television. I was embarrassed by what I witnessed in regards to the council voting to change meeting times from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m.
First of all, this proposal to change times came out of the blue several months ago. I never heard a single citizen ask for this change, nor did I hear any council member mention that any citizen asked them to make this change. It was strictly for the convenience of the council.
Since that time, numerous citizens have spoken out against this change at multiple meetings. Not once have I heard a citizen speak in in favor of this time change. Not once. Yet the council still chooses to completely disregard the will of the people.
I thought that our elected representatives were supposed to be the voice of the people. Clearly, I was mistaken.
