PUYALLUP: City Council snubs citizens again

I was out of town and unable to attend the Dec. 7 Puyallup City Council meeting, so I watched the replay on television. I was embarrassed by what I witnessed in regards to the council voting to change meeting times from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m.

First of all, this proposal to change times came out of the blue several months ago. I never heard a single citizen ask for this change, nor did I hear any council member mention that any citizen asked them to make this change. It was strictly for the convenience of the council.

Since that time, numerous citizens have spoken out against this change at multiple meetings. Not once have I heard a citizen speak in in favor of this time change. Not once. Yet the council still chooses to completely disregard the will of the people.

I thought that our elected representatives were supposed to be the voice of the people. Clearly, I was mistaken.

    On Monday there was a homeless coalition meeting at the Puyallup activity center.. It was held at 7pm so that people could attend.. Martineau spoke of the district meeting held in District 1 that had close to a hundred people in attendance.. it was also held at 7. She was given clear and concise evidence that other cities in the area start meetings at 7.. she then spoke of not knowing other cities start times. when a commotion was made by the citizen who gave her the list of start times.. she admitted she knew of “some” of the other start times. The council clearly wants to hide what they do by scheduling meetings when as few as possible can attend. WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE REPRESENTING???

  2. Dick;
    According to the mayor, you intimidate her and any proponents of the 6PM start. Martineau on the other hand is just a stoolie of Vladimir Boyle and voted to accomodate his early Wednesday schedule.

  3. Most council members don’t feel honesty is required to do their job. Additionally, they lie, they spin, they lie, they whine, they lie, they cry on camera, they lie, they patronize, they lie, they scam, they lie, they cheat, they lie, they fantasize, they lie, they drink heavily and they lie.

    Hello council! Do you really think citizens can’t see through your BS? Hang it up before we embarrass you!

    Some of the names on the Puyallup City Council (and their family) have been around way too long………………The ‘good ole boys club’ is alive an well. It’s not like they are doing a good job or something. They aren’t.
