PALIN: Can’t she just go away for awhile?

Re: “Why Sarah Palin won’t run for president in 2012″ (TNT, 11-22).

I am sick of hearing about Palin – about her book, her Twitter comments, her Facebook page, her commentary on Fox News, her show about beautiful Alaska, her “articles” in various papers. I want this woman to just shut up and get out of my face for 24 hours. That is my Thanksgiving prayer.

When I open my paper or watch the news on Thursday morning, I don’t want to hear or read one word about this quasi-celebrity, political candidate, entertainer, Grizzly Mom. I find her neurotic necessity to always be the center of attention exhausting and, lately, just boring. She is starting to behave like that annoying casual friend who latches onto you at a party and won’t let you engage with anyone else.

Give some of us a break and just go away for awhile. Some of us actually prefer spending time with our families.

  1. GHTaxPayer says:

I would like Barack Obama to go away for awhile. I’m sick of his intrusion into our healthcare system, his ordering of TSA to look at our nude bodies and then groping & molesting our citizens. I’m tried of his spending 3 TRILLION dollars that we don’t have and borrowing from our enemies to cover his runaway spending. I’m fed up with Obama’s attacks on small business, and his refusal to brand Muslim terrorists as the murderers of our citizens.

Can’t Obama just fly to Pakistan and stay there – permanently ?

  2. Margot – do us a favor and stop writing letters to the editor about Palin. Maybe if you and others would stop paying attention to her she would go away.

btw – ratings for her virtual reality tv show go down nearly 50% from the first week That is the way she will go away – IGNORE HER.

  3. NWflyfisher says:

Jealous, Margot? Seems as though she’s been quite successful. By the same token, other than those in your social circle, noone has heard of you.

  4. old_benjamin says:

I’ll see your Sarah Palin and raise you one Barack Obama. My Thanksgiving prayer is that I don’t see his grinning face for 24 hours or hear that condescending voice. Naturally, I had to book a flight to Pyongyang, but hey no terrorists want to go there, so no pats, no body scans and no Obama. There’s still plenty of space for anyone who wants to go along.

  5. Sarah Palin is the GOP’s George McGovern.

  6. JudasEscargot says:

    “NWflyfisher says:

Jealous, Margot? Seems as though she’s been quite successful. By the same token, other than those in your social circle, noone has heard of you.”

Quite successful. Quit her elected position. If Obama quit today, would he be exclaimed “successful”?

Sorry, I forgot. Obama’s the black guy.

  7. beerboy speaks for me on this issue.

Margot, if you don’t like Sarah Palin, step 1 is to stop obsessing about her.

  8. GHT & Olden– you both must have loathed W.

  9. Looks like JE is trying to play the race card as all good liberals do.

  10. donjames says:

bB = the only liberal who “gets it”.

Folks like david letterman, tina fey, keith olderman, joy behar, etc, etc, etc, have only succeeded in enriching Sarah Palin, and increasing her popularity far beyond anything she could otherwise have achieved on her own merit.

She is now the ultimate American success story; crazy like a fox.

IMHO, she will not run, but continue her role as the lead spokesman (no PC intended) for Tea Party interests. Reason? As long as she stays in the limelight, she can continue to capitalize on the left’s lame-ass attempts to ridicule her, while maintaining her perch on the soap box.

She’s young, there’s plenty of time to groom her image and polish her message for a future run at higher office… if that’s what she wants.

If, however, she were to make a run for the Republican nomination for POTUS in 2012 and lose, her 15 minutes are up.

Like I said; crazy like a fox (puns intended).

  11. pazzo242 says:

It is the Democrats that are making Palin what she is today. They fear her and so they keep talking about her. All those liberals that hate her so much continue to bring her up in every conversation and TV news broadcast…kind of like what you are doing Margot.

As a conservative I can tell you I have no intention of voting for her for President, for the same reason I didn’t vote for Obama–lack of experience. I liked her resignation as governor about as much as you did—it was a coward’s way out. Most of my conservative friends feel the same way. That said I still find her interesting, mostly because of the viral response by the liberals.

So, Margot, if you are having difficulty with Palin then here is a couple of suggestions…1) Quit watching Fox News, as it is obvious you have so many problems with that news program and 2) When you see Palin on the TV–change the channel, it’s that easy.

I think I will now go buy her book.

  12. Novelist3 says:

You know, if you don’t want to hear about Palin, on Thanksgiving or any other day… you could perhaps turn off the TV.
    Just a thought.

  13. pazzo242 says:

Flanagan–it seems so many want to complain about Palin but that article was a little envy–“because she is hot” and a bounch of what I said earlier–the libs made Palin what she is today.

To the Democrats….keep up the good work

  14. Parkland says:

Lady, there’s this thing called a remote. If you don’t want to watch stories about her, if you don’t want her to show you Alaska, if you don’t care for her commentary on Fox News, (and I’m dubious you even watch Fox News) then change the channel for God’s sake. If you don’t want to read about her in the paper or in magazines, turn the page!

People with Palin Derangement Syndrome crack me up. You’re obsessed with Palin, yet you can’t stand her.

By the way, I wish Obama would just go away. For good. But I also understand that, while he’s a charlatan who leads the uninformed around by the nose, he’s also an influential to the point of being newsworthy in the things that he does, day to day. Palin is in the same position, although she’s fairly normal.

  15. JudasEscargot says:

“As a conservative I can tell you I have no intention of voting for her for President, for the same reason I didn’t vote for Obama–lack of experience.”

This is called intellectual dishonesty. The commenter claims to be a Conservative yet claims to have not voted for Obama because of “lack of experience”. John McCain had no more presidential experience than Barack Obama and his stand in, should he have passed away….was….guess who?

  16. Obama Derangement Syndrome.

  17. JudasEscargot says:

“Palin is in the same position, although she’s fairly normal.”

If “normal” means you have a witch doctor as a pastor, allow sleepovers with your teenage daughter’s boyfriend and have luxury cabins magically built in the wilds of Alaska without the tax collectors knowing.

The funniest part of all of this is that the Right Wing plays like Palin doesn’t have a staff of people keeping her in the limelight.

  18. JudasEscargot says:

Folks like david letterman, tina fey, keith olderman, joy behar, etc, etc, etc, have only succeeded in enriching Sarah Palin, and increasing her popularity far beyond anything she could otherwise have achieved on her own merit.

Since her popularity rating is really quite low, this statement doesn’t say much for her own merits.

  19. Parkland says:

“If “normal” means you have a witch doctor as a pastor”

That’s so funny! I remember when all good progs started, all at the same time, to use the “witch doctor” line to describe some healing preacher she’d gone to. It’s like you all read the kos or the huffpost or whatever it was at the same time, and flooded blogs and comment sections with “witch doctor!” You people crack me up, being led around like proper little marionettes.

Oh, and I don’t suppose it bothers you that Soetoro’s pastor is an anti-American racist. How long did Barry sit in that church, I wonder? Then he throws his “mentor” under the bus, and lies about not knowing what was being preached. Please….

  20. JudasEscargot says:

Oh Parkland. Denial. The man has a history with self proclaimed witches

But jump all over Pastor Wright’s famous phrase “gawddamn America” which, taken in context is nothing close to anti-american

Please. Nominate Sarah Palin and see the results.

  21. donjames says:

JE, since her popularity rating – as of yesterday – is dead even with that of 0bama, what does that say for his merits?

    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2010/11/obama-romney-palin.html

Damn that old north-south/ what goes up must come down/ he is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being who has ever occupied the White House stuff. Facts suck.

Guess I should have included JE, et al, in that list as well.

  22. Parkland says:

Yer slayin’ me, man! Don’t care that Palin went to a weird preacher. Doesn’t matter. It does matter that Obama sat in a black liberation theology church for twenty years, then claimed he didn’t know what it was about. That makes him really, really stupid, or just a plain old liar. You make the call.

  23. JudasEscargot says:

“Black liberation theology maintains that African Americans must be liberated from multiple forms of bondage — social, political, economic and religious. This formulation views Christian theology as a theology of liberation — “a rational study of the being of God in the world in light of the existential situation of an oppressed community, relating the forces of liberation to the essence of the Gospel, which is Jesus Christ,” writes James Hal Cone.”

    Terrible stuff.

  24. JudasEscargot says:

“Andrew Malcolm is a political blogger for the L.A. Times, where his job is to craft every story in such a way that maximizes its chances of getting linked to by Matt Drudge.”

    How about Gallup?

“PRINCETON, NJ — More than half of Americans, 52%, now view Sarah Palin unfavorably, the highest percentage holding a negative opinion of the former Alaska governor in Gallup polling since Sen. John McCain tapped her as the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee. Her 40% favorable rating ties her lowest favorable score, recorded just over a year ago.”

    Obama job approval? 46%

Bush would have paid a handsome sum for that.

  25. Meanwhile….corporate profits are higher than ever recorded (60 years of this statistic), stocks go up, no jobs in sight.

I’m trying to remember the first time I heard the phrase “jobless recovery”. It has to have been since Alan Greenspan was in charge of the Fed and Reagan broke the Union.

  26. Parkland says:

Black Liberation theologians James Cone and Cornel West have worked diligently to embed Marxist thought into the black church since the 1970s. For Cone, Marxism best addressed remedies to the condition of blacks as victims of white oppression. In For My People, Cone explains that “the Christian faith does not possess in its nature the means for analyzing the structure of capitalism. Marxism as a tool of social analysis can disclose the gap between appearance and reality, and thereby help Christians to see how things really are.”

One of the pillars of Obama’s home church, Trinity United Church of Christ, is “economic parity.” On the website, Trinity claims that God is not pleased with “America’s economic mal-distribution.” Among all of controversial comments by Jeremiah Wright, the idea of massive wealth redistribution is the most alarming. The code language “economic parity” and references to “mal-distribution” is nothing more than channeling the twisted economic views of Karl Marx. Black Liberation theologians have explicitly stated a preference for Marxism as an ethical framework for the black church because Marxist thought is predicated on a system of oppressor class (whites) versus victim class (blacks).

(above excerpts from Anthony Bradley’s “Liberating Black Theology”)

    Yeah, nice.

  27. More Obama Derangement Syndrome.

  28. klthompson says:

I have to laugh. I adore Sarah Palin as I adore a the other ladies from Wasilla that I have had the pleasure to meet. Is she qualified for higher office in this great land? Probably not. Will she run for higher office? She might. Can she drive the left side wingnuts crazy? She does. As a national asset she is far to valuable to waste her time running for public office. Go Sarah!

  29. klthompson says:

Judas…Obama’s approval rating is now in the 30’s and dropping like a stone. Try to keep up.

  30. JudasEscargot says:

Klthompson – keep reading the GOP influenced polls. I’ll stick with the tried and trusty Gallup.

  31. JudasEscargot says:

    RealClearPolitics – 46% approval

Forbes Media announced on November 7, 2007 that it had acquired a 51% stake in RealClearPolitics.com. The founders will remain owners and management.[11] In November, 2008, Forbes President and CEO Steve Forbes sent a memo directing that the company’s online brands, including Forbes.com, Investopedia and RealClearPolitics.com be combined.

  32. JudasEscargot says:

Republican Rasmussen – Overall, 48% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president’s performance. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove.

  33. JudasEscargot says:

Now, when you look past the headlines (something that Conservatives don’t do because it requires reading more than 3 or 4 words) you find THIS on Zogby:

“The President continues to lose the job approval of Democrats, going from 78% on Nov. 15 to 72% in this Nov. 19-22, 2010 interactive poll. His approval among independents stayed at 39%, and is 6% among Republicans. “

Obama is losing Democratic approval because he caves in to the Republicans.

  34. JudasEscargot says:

    Marxist…….LOL

You have to love when they run out of things to say and have to inject marxist and socialist.

  35. JudasEscargot says:

    Oh…and by the way….

Palin ran for mayor of Wasilla in 1996, defeating incumbent mayor John Stein 651 to 440 …

Now THERE is a race. We had more votes at Wilson High School in 1969.

  36. Parkland says:

    “More Obama Derangement Syndrome. ”

That’s awesome! The church’s own website has OBS!

Black liberation theology sounds like a sweet gig, too, have you seen the mansion that the good reverend had the church build? Cost over a million bucks and sits right on the exclusive Odyssey Country Club and golf course.

And of course Obama himself must have grieved and lamented his life as an oppressed black man. Maybe why he wound up at Wright’s church, heck private schools, Columbia and Harvard. Or…. Maybe he attended that particular church to cement his role as a rabble rouser, you know, rub elbows with the rabble as he attained wealth and furthered his career off of their backs.

But hey, if you dig the guy, that’s cool.

  37. Parkland says:

“You have to love when they run out of things to say and have to inject marxist and socialist.”

You must be talking about James Cone, right?

Hilarious how you guys mock conservatives for…. quoting leftists?

Yup, up is red, blue is wind. Some of you truly live in an alternate universe. :)

  38. The letter writer is suffering from Palin Derangement Syndrome.

  39. old_benjamin says:

JudasEscargo: Can’t it just go away for a while?

  40. Still waiting for “H” to ever answer a simple question with an honest (?) “yes” or “no”. As he prefers not to be forthcoming with an answer, he will :
    1) flash the goofy triangle plastic smile
    2) put his hand up in the defensive “swipe away” posture
    3) laugh at the question, then the interviewer
    4) point his finger and wag it
    5) put his lips together and do the “purse / puff
    6) lower his gaze and eyelids as an angry lecturer
    7) redo his best imitation of Bugs Bunny saying the word “and” ( “d’ aaaaaand”)
    8) jettison all proper nouns and resort to foggy undefined pronouns
    9) repeat # 1 above and use the word “clear” several times while leaving

  41. menopaws says:

I think since North Korea is shelling South Korea–it would be a good thing if the media paid more attention to that situation than Sarah Palin……….Serious problems require serious attention. From people who know what they are talking about……I know she can see Russia from her window, but trust me, I’d rather hear from Colin Powell, Hillary Clinton, James Baker than her…….she may be very nice, but she is an intellectual light weight…..No one has ever described her as brillant and never will–unless it involves hustling for money.

  42. JudasEscargot says:

You quote Bradley and accredit it to Cone. LOL

  43. Dj – liberals are not the ones buying her ghost written fantasy novels. And Karl Rove is no liberal but never misses a chance to dis her.
    Parkland.

    – It was McCain and Palin who made and continue to make false claims about their skills, knowledge, and experience.

-and it was Palin who was publicly allowed an exorcist to drive out the evil demons who were inhibiting her in doing God’s Work (as in becoming Governor of Alaska).

-One does not have to be a Black Libertarian to dislike the America’s economic mal-distributions (top 2% get 80 percent of the income but pay only 55% of the income tax).

DJ – especially your so called facts.

KLT – try 47% and climbing as of 11/09/10 according to the NY Daily News.

  44. fanciladi says:

Well, Margot…I’m with all of those who think the same as you do only about Obama. I’m SO sick of seeing him on the TV and to use an old Southern expression…’flapping his gums’! Between him, the gold commercials and the Viagra and like product commercials…I’m wearing the mute button out on my remote. One of these days I may trip and fall while running to find the remote, or I may run into my son who would be running to find it, too, to mute the TV!

Obama, you are over exposed and we can’t believe you anyway…you say one thing one day and the opposite the next depending upon who your audience is…

  45. It’s quite amazing how he keeps his teeth SO white… being a smoker and all.

  46. pazzo242 says:

JudasEscargot says: “We had more votes at Wilson High School in 1969″
That must be the school you dropped out of in the 10th grade

JudasEscargot says: “Pastor Wright’s famous phrase “gawddamn America”
Yes it is Anti-American and can’t see what else it could be interpreted as and how could any Christian pastor make that statement given they are to live by the 10 Commandments—Read the 3rd Commandment.

JudasEscargot says: “John McCain had no more presidential experience than Barack Obama and his stand in, should he have passed away….was….guess who?”
You are right about Presidential experience, but no one does until they run for the office the first time–come on you couldn’t figure that out. At least McCain was a Representative and US Senator since 1983 (27 years)…I believe that qualified him over Obama who was a Senator for less then 2 years and a community organizer. The argument that if McCain’s died then the President would be Palin is lame as there was no reason to expect him to die—that was just attempt by the libs to divert everyone from the lies being told by Obama. You don’t vote for the VP because if that were true how could anyone have voted for Obama with Biden as his running mate….that guy is clueless and gives the Dems as bad a name as Reed and Pelozi.

  47. McCain and Palin were a couple of throw away candidates. If they won, well and good, the Republicans had another useful idiot in the White House. If they lost, also well and good, at least no real candidate has a blemish on their record.

  48. And don’t forget Pazzo… Obama quit.

  49. Thewho : you wrong again. Neither McCain, Obama, nor Biden quit. So that leaves Ms PALIN as the only quitter.

Here’s proof: McCain was just re-elected this year (2010) for a 6 year term. That means he was last elected in 2004, the same year Obama and Biden were elected to the Senate. The Presidential election was in 2008 while all three were serving in the Senate.

  50. If I remember correctly, the 1/2 Guv resigned because she felt that the ethics scandal was hurting Alaska…….kinda like when Nixon resigned.

  51. What ever happened with the “ethics” scandal?

  52. Unfortunately the media have recognized her as a cash cow. As a polarizing influence, she is being used as the lightening rod that she is. Media sales are up if they publish anything about her, her family, her ex family even the state of Alaska has been branded by her now. I’d like all the Tea Party supporters to move there…

  53. Why should Sarah go away? Just because libs who get their facts from comedy shows and PMSNBC are afraid of her?

Grow up and get used to it. Not only will she run but she will win.

President Palin – now that has a sweet sound to it.

  54. If you “remember correctly”… nyuck, nyuck, nyuck.

  55. she arrived at her decision in part to protect her family, which has faced withering criticism and occasional mockery, and to escape ethics probes that have drained her family’s finances and hampered her ability to govern. She said leaving office is in the best interest of the state and will allow her to more effectively advocate for issues of importance to her, including energy independence and national security.

“I love my job and I love Alaska, and it hurts to make this choice, but I’m doing what’s best for them,” Palin said, the sun glinting off a seaplane on Lake Lucille behind her.

Palin, 45, said that, after deciding not to run for reelection as governor, she realized she did not want to finish out her term merely for the sake of doing so.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/07/03/AR2009070301738.html

So….she got tired of defending herself (and her husband) from ethics probes from her own Party, wanted tor protect her family from all the public attention and couldn’t, as a Guv who wasn’t going to go up for re-election in two years, sit in the audience of Dancing With the Stars….

  56. I didn’t see any mention of “ethics probes from her own Party”. Did you just add that to be “deliberately provocative”?

So the answer is…………… nothing, they were designed TO drain her finances and be a distraction. Pretty much the same thing the anti-gun “progressives” do with frivilous law suits against gun manufacturers.

“Palin said she and her husband, Todd, have spent $500,000 “just to set the record straight.” She has been the subject of 15 ethics probes, 13 of which have been resolved by the state Personnel Board with no findings of wrongdoing. The other two are pending. One of the resolved complaints led to Palin’s agreement to reimburse the state $8,100 for costs associated with trips she took with her children.”

  57. Roncella says:

Margot, You have got to be kidding. Everyday, Seven Days A Week President Obama is on the T.V. Reading from his many Tele-Prompters. Every day day in and day out.

  58. Parkland, also there was the video of the exorcism in which the ‘healing preacher’ is clear heard casting out demons.

  59. umm…..Roncella……Obama is the leader of the free world, Commander in Chief, President of the United States. Palin is a half-governor, former candidate, reality TV star who Twits a lot and delivers speeches for money.

I’m thinking that Obama’s positions of responsibility demands a little more attention from the press.

  60. t_w, are you so naïve to think Palin spent $500K of her own money?
