ELECTION: Murray, steady as she sinks

Letter by Gary W. Heil, University Place on Oct. 29, 2010 at 3:37 pm with 112 Comments »
October 30, 2010 6:55 am

Your provincial endorsement of Sen. Patty Murray was most disappointing as it was a tacit endorsement of big government, big spending, trillion dollar deficits, mountainous debt, increased taxes, high unemployment and a stagnant economy.

Most American realize the only way out of this mess is smaller government, less spending, lower taxes and fewer regulations. It is no longer justifiable to endorse a candidate based on their ability to bring home the bacon for unions and other special interest groups. There is something more important and that is saving the exceptional country known as America.

Next Tuesday, as a a start to fixing what’s gone terribly wrong since one party took control of Congress in 2007, the electorate will vote out of office as many as 100 big spending Congressional Democrats. Here’s hoping Murray is one of them.

Gary, Great comments wise and truthful.

Cheerleading requires a skirt and pom poms.

Gary has spewed the generic Dino Rossi campaign lies and the sheep follow by saying his name backwards “Heil, Gary”

I am amused at how the GOP controlled the purse strings the majority of the time that Murray served, but it’s the Democrats that are responsible for the spending.

Even the honest Republicans will admit that the deficit belongs to George Bush.

As if the TEApublicans are not REpublicans……LOL

You can fool yourself most of the time, and I’ll refrain from quoting George Bush further

  6. the3rdpigshouse says:

Just possibly some of the socialist democrats will awaken with the knowledge that their nation is under attack from within and that the socialist democrat leadership lead by “OH-Bummer” will destroy a once great nation if not stopped!!

  7. I think first lefty would have you think George W.Bush was the cause of The Great Depression, World WarII,Korean and Vietnam wars! And everything bad that has happened to the U.S.is all Georges fault. It also seems he think Obama can do nothing wrong,no matter what he does or doesn,t do.With a majority of this kind of belief,Obama is sure to win his reelection in a land slide!Myself,I agree with Gary.

  8. Roncella says:

First lefty, Let me help you out about how to blame President Bush properly.

He’s to blame for the viet Nam war, Iraq War, Afg. War, Inflation, all the recessions, unemployment, all Hurracaines, Contrina Storm, Gulf Oil Spill,
Bank/Auto/Mortage Failures, Cancer, Bad Colds, All Bad Weather, Earth Quakes World Wide, Balding Men, Joy Bahard, Woopi Goldberg, Barbara Boxer, Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, on and on and on.

This list should help you in future posts.

  9. First_Lefty says:

    Roncella:

I prefer to stick with facts. Bush is responsible for the Iraq War and a poor response to Hurricane Katrina.

Beyond that, blame Cheney. He was running the show.

This is classic Conservative. They make up false things while denying the faults of the Bush Administration. So let’s be clear about what First_Lefty says, by……First_Lefty saying it:

George Bush took office with a budget surplus. He correctly directed military operations into Afghanistan in lieu of the WTC attacks on 9/11/01, but, as we all know now, he had a plan to attack Iraq to “make his bones”.

Two wars and tax cuts later, along with big loans by China, the US is in serious trouble financially (Vietnam should have taught us, but, as you recall, Bush was drinking it up in the Guard during Nam and learned nothing). During all this war spending, Bush’s Administration didn’t report all of the outgoing money ($9 billion in cash for instance). This is the equivilant of not logging checks or withdrawls in your checkbook and playing like you still have the money.

Eventually inflation catches up with everyone and then BOOM – out went the lights on Wall Street in 2008 B.O. (Before Obama).

We’ve been trying to find enough dirt to fill the hole ever since.

I’ll close by saying you can’t blame Bush for Vietnam. He didn’t serve in Vietnam.

  11. Sumner401 says:

More GOP propaganda talking points, with the predictable cheer leading by the far right lemmings.

Remember folks, it was the ‘smaller govt. less spending, fewer regulation, lower taxes, party that put us where we are now.
If you want TOTAL destruction of the economy and thus the nation….by all means vote republican.

  12. This is a thougtful, reasoned letter. If you want big government, taxation, regulation and a nanny-state gone wild, keep on voting for dems. If not, take a stand and begin making changes in the direction we are moving NOW.

The opposing candidates are imperfect, of course. The GOP has miles to go before righting THAT ship…but there really is only one way to halt the big government steam roller.

    Vote!

  13. the3rdpigshouse says:

Government dependent individuals and the politically brainwashed among us have become a significant part of the electorate. When more than 50% of our electorate is or feels they are dependent upon the government for their survival our great nation will ceasr to exist and will morph into another bastardized socialist country of big government and lost personal freedoms!!

Wake up citizens – remove socialist democrats from government – hold all elected people accountable for doing what helps our country succeed and not be mentored/brainwashed into hating your own country as Obama did!!!

  14. Roncella says:

firstlefty, Your hero President Obama had all the answers loaded in this many tele-prompter while running for office a few years back. Yes he had answers for the unemployment, sluggest economy, Bank crises, auto crises, why he had solutions for everything.

Now after being President with control of the House and the Senate both for two years all he does is blame Bush or Republicans, or Fox News, or Rush Limbaugh, or Bill O’Rielly, for everything that is wrong.

Obama needs to go back and review the tele-prompters he had loaded with all the answers to all the problems and get to work, rather than criss crossing the Country doing campaigning, golfing, 9- vacations, etc.

  15. Some people are saying that 3PH sounds almost exactly like Jimmy Carter…he’s just one “spiritual malaise” comment away. I’m not saying that, you decide.

  16. bobcat1a says:

Ron, how many posts did you file complaining about GWB’s vacations? Just curious.

  17. Sumner401 says:

Or how often he used the evil scary ‘teleprompter’?

It’s all talking points with roncella and the right, no substance at all.

  18. fbergford says:

Sumner is that all you say “talking points of the right”

Come on dude, post something with some thought behind it!

  19. the3rdpigshouse says:

When all the anti-American leftists on this site start addressing “OH-Bummer” accomplishments rather than attacking every individual entering a post – it will shorten your ramblings to approximately two words – “Hope” & “Change”!!! Followed by blanks!

Sumner is that all you say “talking points of the right”

Come on dude, post something with some thought behind it!”

    Come on dude.
Here is something with some thought behind it. This letter like so many of the TALKING POINTS OF THE RIGHT portrays Democrats as the responsible party of the deficit. When you talk about Murray, you must admit that during her 18 years of service, 12 of them were spent in the minority with no control over spending and the budget.

There’s some THOUGHT for you, DUDE. Can you respond with some thought, DUDE?

  21. First_Lefty says:

    “Roncella says:

firstlefty, Your hero President Obama had all the answers loaded in this many tele-prompter while running for office a few years back. Yes he had answers for the unemployment, sluggest economy, Bank crises, auto crises, why he had solutions for everything.”

First of all can you get over the juvenile teleprompter bit? I can’t tell you a politician that hasn’t used on in over 20 years or more. George Bush used one and still butchered his speeches.

Obama’s answer for unemployment and economy (you can factcheck this) “It will get worse before it get’s better”.

Bank crisis? Solved. Wall Street is chugging along nicely. I assume you don’t follow the stock reports.

Auto crisis? Solved. Big three are back on their feet, a million jobs saved and loans are being paid back with interest (that’s known as profit)

Your problem, Roncella is that you are painfully uneducated about current events.

  22. First_Lefty says:

    December 7, 2008 –

“If you look at the unemployment numbers … the fragility of the financial system and the fact that it’s an international system,” the recession “is a big problem, and it’s going to get worse,” Obama told NBC News’ Tom Brokaw on Saturday. The interview aired Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

You’re just not paying attention, Roncella.

  23. aislander says:

So, even if it IS true that Murray was in the minority for a good part of her tenure in the Senate (which is debatable), isn’t she responsible for her OWN votes? How many spending bills and tax increases did she vote against?

1/93 through 1/95, majority. 1/95 through 1/00, minority but with Dem Pres. 1/01 through 1/03, majority. 1/03 through 1/07, minority. 1/07 through 1/11, majority. Bush never had a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, so if Murray, et al were serious about stopping spending, she could have tried, at least…

  24. aislander says:

I don’t know of any previous president who used the teleprompter at staff meetings or at elementary schools. Obama achieves a new low in that regard…

“worse before it gets better” is called CYA…

Wall Street is being supported by the Fed’s buying of stocks…

As for the kept auto companies’ repayment of their “loans,” that is taxpayer money being shifted from one pocket to another. Just another lefty scam…

  25. Islander – Show me a president in the last 30 years who does not use a teleprompter or similar device when speaking to the public. Or, in the case of W when preaching to the choir.

  26. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1DO388jsf8&feature=related

    and, again, w/teleprompter.

So, Bush was a bungler, what’s that make Obama?

  27. First_Lefty says:

Let’s see……you can demostrate maybe a half dozen misspeaks by Obama.

There is a term called “Bushisms”

Bush was a bungler, that makes Obama human.

“worse before it gets better” is called CYA…”

No, it’s called HONESTY and FACT

aislander – I laugh at your accounting of “the majority”. Especially 07 to 11.

After the 2006 elections the Senate was a deadlock with Cheney casting the final vote. This lasted until 2009, when the Democrats had a supermajority for 30 days until Ted Kennedy died (of course he didn’t vote while dying of cancer)

Who set a record of filibusters? Who constantly called for an “up and down vote”?

Save your historical rewrite for someone who is more naive.

  28. First_Lefty says:

    The complete Bushisms

    http://www.slate.com/id/76886/

  29. First_Lefty says:

Wall Street is being supported by the Fed’s buying of stocks…

Do you have some proof of that? Of course you don’t.

So, even if it IS true that Murray was in the minority for a good part of her tenure in the Senate (which is debatable)

    No, FACTS aren’t debatable.

As for the kept auto companies’ repayment of their “loans,” that is taxpayer money being shifted from one pocket to another. Just another lefty scam…

So when a bank loans money to a business and a business pays it back with interest, that means it’s just the bank moving money from one pocket to another? A “banking scam”?

Yes, yes….I know the little story about paying loans with taxpayer money, which might fool the low information Americans, but there is a thing called “sales of cars” that debunks that entire story.

  30. First_Lefty says:

“worse before it gets better” is called CYA…

This comment reminds me of the early black quarterbacks in the NFL. Playing a position normally reserved for caucasian players (because they were allegedly smarter), a black quarterback faced interesting scenarios.

If they ran with the ball and scored, or did well, they were “showboats”.

If they threw the ball for an interception, they were “dumb”.

If they threw the ball for a completion, it was a “great catch”

If the team lost, it was their fault and if the team won it was a great team victory.

History has demonstrated how recessions and depressions work. Obama’s accurate prediction of “it will get worse before it get’s better” was nothing more than an honest look at the historical facts of economics.

But…..he’s too dumb to be President.

  31. It does not matter who was President or which party held the purse-strings during Murray’s 18 years in DC. She has voted the marxist line consistently and will continue to do so in the future. There is no reason to return her to DC.

  32. Public speaking gaffs have nothing to do with leadership and authority.

  33. Sumner401 says:

Come on dude, post something with some thought behind it!

That is what I have been asking you people on the right to do for months now.
But all we get is the 3pigs grade school trash, personal attacks and the spoon fed talking points, which are always greeted with the same cheer leading back slapping nonsense from the usual suspects.

  34. Sumner401 says:

So, even if it IS true that Murray was in the minority for a good part of her tenure in the Senate (which is debatable),

I’m sorry but just how is that ‘debatable’?
I know you make up your own facts and pass them off as being true (which is hilarious I might ad) but seriously aislander, this one you simply can not ‘debate’.
Facts are facts and Murry was in the minority for the better part of her 18 years.
It’s also a fact that your party is to blame for 80% of our debt, yet you want to keep electing more of them.

How do you close your eyes to the facts like this?

  35. Sumner401 says:

Wall Street is being supported by the Fed’s buying of stocks…

Will you please stop making up ridiculous crap like this!!
How do you even say something like this when you KNOW it’s not true?

Your ‘fascism is socialism’ nonsense is one thing, but this……

  36. Roncella says:

First lefty Your Hero Obama when not using his many tele-prompters sounds just like this, ——–Ah, ah, en, aa, ah,aa, and aa, ah,aa, and let me be clear when I say ah, aa, ah, aa.

However I will compliment the President when I say he can give a really good speech when reading his teleprompters, yep no doubt about that.

  37. Where are the democrats I grew up with? America first democrats. For the little guy democrats. The democrats who would vote a mug-wump out of office and never consider electing a progressive or socialist to congress . . . Where are you?

  38. First_Lefty says:

    Roncella:

Tell us about your experience as a public speaker. As someone who has been in front of an audience over 500 or more times, I still have some speech habits……ya know?

  39. First_Lefty says:

It does not matter who was President or which party held the purse-strings during Murray’s 18 years in DC. She has voted the marxist line consistently and will continue to do so in the future. There is no reason to return her to DC.”

I know this is a wasted question that you’ll avoid like a social disease, but “what is “Marxist” and how does it relate to any vote in the Senate?

  40. Sumner401 says:

Public speaking gaffs have nothing to do with leadership and authority.

Had your hero bush the failed not been such a bumbler would you still be saying this?

  41. Sumner401 says:

    Where are you?

They never left, what happened to the republicans, look at what they have done?

  42. Sumner401 says:

Ah, ah, en, aa, ah,aa, and aa, ah,aa, and let me be clear when I say ah, aa, ah, aa.

And that is what your hero bush the failed sounds like with an evil teleprompter.
Every President since LBJ has used a teleprompter, why is such a big deal now?
    Whats you point roncella?

  43. jandkgibbs says:

don’t you mean Murry stinks, not sinks?

  44. Roncella says:

Sumner, Sorry, I really didn’t mean to upset you. Its just a fact that with his tele-prompters Obama gives a really good speech.

But without his many tele-prompters, he sounds awful.

Obama gave a very short speech to some highschool kids and had to use a tele-prompter for that occasion, go figure.

  45. First_Lefty says:

    Roncella:

You know why Obama uses a teleprompter? To avoid looking silly writing things on his hand or using 3×5 cards so that the top of your head is facing the audience more than your eyes.

  46. First_Lefty says:

Count the number of times Palin looks down at the podium to refer to her notes.

  47. aislander says:

According to globalresearch.ca, Noriel Roubini, an adviser close to Geitner says the mechanism exists for the Fed to buy common stocks, and, since the Fed is not audited, there is no way of knowing the timing and extent of those purchases.

Secondly, Murray was in several Congresses in which her party held the majority, and the fact remains that she is responsible for her votes no matter the composition of the congress. Let’s HOLD her responsible this Tuesday…

  48. aislander says:

FL writes: “You know why Obama uses a teleprompter?”

To avoid inadvertently telling the truth? Or, to avoid embarrassment when answering a fifth graders question.? When he has a staff meeting?

  49. Do you know why the right rim attacks Obama’s use of teleprompters? They follow Rove’s advice that you need to attack your opponent’s strength. Obama is a brilliant speaker so….attack his use of technology when speaking.

  50. aislander says:

Brilliant speaker, beerBoy? Not so much: I’ve HEARD him speak off-prompter, and the results are never good–for him. Talk about malapropisms from the right–how about Obama’s warning that something was being “hoisted” on the American people?

  51. the3rdpigshouse says:

I do love it so when all the leftists – 1st lefty, xring, & sumner – trip off the line when you mention something pro-American!! It just confirms the radical left is still alive & kicking!! It surely supports the goal of eliminating all anti-American socialist democrats from elected office!!

  52. .3pig – We progressives are pro-American. We support the Constitution and the American people and not the vultures that try to prey on them

  53. “Rim”? What, praytell< homophobic act are you now refering to Mr. B?

  54. aislander says:

So, xring, who is it who is “preying” on the American people?

  55. It’s November! Finally! Join with me in praying the leftists get a well deserved routing tomorrow.

  56. beerBoy says:

thewho – you imagine innuendo that isn’t there – which says something about what you fixate upon.

And…..”homophobic act”? Would that be something like the beating death of Matthew Shepherd?

  57. Correlation does not equal causation mr. B.
Mattew may have been gay, but he was murdered during a robbery.

And, I’m pretty sure it was you that had some twisted comment about Governor Butch Otter’s name. But I digress.

  58. beerBoy says:

Mattew may have been gay, but he was murdered during a robbery.

    Denial ain’t a river in Egypt…..

  59. beerBoy says:

aislander – your definition of brilliant speaker seems to imply that impromptu speech is the only acceptable kind.

Shouldn’t surprise me as your definitions for all sorts of words are very oftentimes extremely skewed beyond recognition.

  60. the3rdpigshouse says:

Think you want to vote socialist democrat – read this one!!

Madam speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to put a Windfall Tax on all stock market profits (including Retirement fund, 401K and Mutual Funds!
    This woman is frightening.

She quotes…’ We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income, (didn’t Marx say something like this?), in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest.’ (I am not rich, are you?)

When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied:

‘We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as ‘Americans’.’

  61. First_Lefty says:

At trial, the defendants offered various rationales to justify their actions. They originally pled the gay panic defense, arguing that they were driven to temporary insanity by alleged sexual advances by Shepard. At another point they stated that they had wanted only to rob Shepard and never intended to kill him.

    Birds of a feather….

Everyone knows that when you rob someone you beat him mercilessly and then tie him to a fence.

Only the worst could deny the truth has these two animals did.

  62. First_Lefty says:

I wonder how many times Obama said “uh” while he held court with nothing but Republicans and handed them their lunch.

Here is the video and text of that meeting:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/29/transcript-of-president-o_n_442423.html

But wait….it’s reported by Huffpo, so that makes it communist…..or is it marxist……no…wait….socialist……I just can’t keep track……

  63. First_Lefty says:

Here is a key section of Obama’s meeting with Republican leaders:

Let’s start with our efforts to jumpstart the economy last winter, when we were losing 700,000 jobs a month. Our financial system teetered on the brink of collapse and the threat of a second Great Depression loomed large. I didn’t understand then, and I still don’t understand, why we got opposition in this caucus for almost $300 billion in badly needed tax cuts for the American people, or COBRA coverage to help Americans who’ve lost jobs in this recession to keep the health insurance that they desperately needed, or opposition to putting Americans to work laying broadband and rebuilding roads and bridges and breaking ground on new construction projects.

There was an interesting headline in CNN today: “Americans disapprove of stimulus, but like every policy in it.” And there was a poll that showed that if you broke it down into its component parts, 80 percent approved of the tax cuts, 80 percent approved of the infrastructure, 80 percent approved of the assistance to the unemployed.

  64. commoncents says:

3 pigs – Pelosi never said that…that was written as satire by someone back in 2006. Closest thing out there was Buffets statement that any capital gains on assets held under a year should be taxed at 100%. Buffett is a proponent of investing based off of the basics rather than speculation investing and obviously has done really well at it. Retirement accounts would obviously be exempt from such a tax anyways…except for early withdrawals which already get hit with their own excise tax.

To avoid inadvertently telling the truth? Or, to avoid embarrassment when answering a fifth graders question.? When he has a staff meeting?

Well, aislander, you’ve again forced me to reach into my FACT sack in lieu of your baseless assertions:

“They’re in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom.” –Sarah Palin, getting the vice president’s constitutional role wrong after being asked by a third grader what the vice president does, interview with NBC affiliate KUSA in Colorado, Oct. 21, 2008.

This is who your side of the isle follows, worships and would run for President.

  66. FreeAmerica says:

Did someone kick your dog lefty?

  67. Roncella says:

firstlefty, Last Time I checked Sarah Palin is not running for President.

Why do you keep attacking everything about Palin ? Your not afraid of her are you ? Does she put fear in your blood stream ? Heck I wouldn’t worry about her, she is harmless.

She is actually over qualified to be President, when compared to Obama’s qualifications, ie. Community organizer. She has been a representive, Mayor, Governor.

Any how I wouldn’t keep fearing Sarah Palin, as I said she harmless.

  68. First_Lefty says:

    Roncella:

Uh….you’d better update your access to reality. Palin did everything but print the posters this past week, not to mention SarahPAC. As usual, you are uneducated about current affairs.

Now….to the subject. For a group of people that want to rail on the President for not being able to speak well enough for them, you folks sure choose doozies.

If Palin’s service to a town of 7,000 and a half governorship to a state with less constituents than Obama represented in the Illinois legislature overquality her, your standards are awfully low.

Wait a minute….what am I saying???? You’re a Republican! Of course your standards are low.

FreeAmerica – send us a letter when you have something of value to contribute to the adult conversation.

When either of you can MAN UP and speak to the subject of Obama sitting down with Republican leaders and telling them where the cow ate the cabbage, let me know. I’d love to hear your take on that historical meeting.

  69. First_Lefty says:

I guess Karl Rove stipulated the following because Palin didn’t say a word about running for President:

“There are high standards that the American people have for it [the presidency] and they require a certain level of gravitas, and they want to look at the candidate and say ‘that candidate is doing things that gives me confidence that they are up to the most demanding job in the world’. . . With all due candor, appearing on your own reality show on the Discovery Channel, I am not certain how that fits in the American calculus of ‘that helps me see you in the Oval Office’”

  70. First_Lefty says:

Commoncents – you have isolated the problem with the Right Wing Fanatics. They can discern the difference between satire and reality.

  71. Sumner401 says:

Sorry, I really didn’t mean to upset you. Its just a fact that with his tele-prompters Obama gives a really good speech.

But without his many tele-prompters, he sounds awful.

How could you looking foolish over this non-issue upset me?
You haven’t answers the question, what is your point with this?
Are you really this shallow that using a teleprompter, which every President does, some how means something to you?
I thought you claimed to be some sort of “political guru’?

  72. Sumner401 says:

According to globalresearch.ca, Noriel Roubini, an adviser close to Geitner says the mechanism exists for the Fed to buy common stocks, and, since the Fed is not audited, there is no way of knowing the timing and extent of those purchases.

And you think that is proof that the stock market is being held up by the federal Govt.?
News flash, when nut bags say things, they are not true.

Man oh man, you get worse everyday.
Check for black helicopters over your house before leaving and I’m SURE they planted a GPS tracker on your car.

  73. Sumner401 says:

They follow Rove’s advice that you need to attack your opponent’s strength.

Rove? Is he now taking credit for the evil liberal Alynski’s tactics?
The right has turned his ideas into an art form and typically, they steal credit for them.

  74. Sumner401 says:

Did someone kick your dog lefty?

Faced with truth and facts, this is what the right has…….nothing.

  75. Sumner401 says:

    Roncella,
Why do you keep attacking everything about Obama ? Your not afraid of him are you ? Does he put fear in your blood stream ? Heck I wouldn’t worry about him, he is harmless.

He is actually over qualified to be President, when compared to sister sara’s qualifications, ie. failed Governor, failed mayor, failed VP candidate and college drop out he has been a State representative US Senator, and a Constitutional law professor and President of the United States

  76. First_Lefty says:

As to the government purchasing stocks, why would that be a problem? Conservatives want to wager Social Security on Wall Street.

  77. No matter what the outcome tomorrow, I am rather enjoying the desperation and panic on display.

Denial ain’t a river in Egypt, yet you’re neck deep in it.

  78. First_Lefty says:

Who – I’m still waiting for your answer about Marxism.

  79. Roncella says:

Its kind of fun watching firstefty and sumner and the other extreme liberals sweating as Nov 2nd butt kicking is coming their way.

Sumner, President Obama is in over his head. He does not have a clue what to do next.

He has surrounded himself with losers and socialists, left wing liberals, how could he be successful when he selects losers for his cabinet and keeps appointing Czar after Czar.

Obama has appointed more Czars than any other President in History, Why ?

  80. Being part of an idiot mob might put you on the winning side but winning doesn’t make you intelligent.

  81. aislander says:

beerBoy writes (bitterly): “Being part of an idiot mob might put you on the winning side but winning doesn’t make you intelligent.”

And there it is: the liberal opinion of the American people and the American system of government. That’s why Tuesday is shaping up to be the watershed it appears to be…

  82. Roncella says:

beerBoy, Why ddescribe the folks who want change as Idiots ?

They are from every corner of the Country all different back gounds all different levels of education.

Why not say they hold different values and opinions then you do and leave it at that.

  83. Mr. Beerboy, Why so much venom? Have you considered anger management classes or is this just more of that “even-handed” rhetoric ramping up before the elections?

Really, your fall back position is arrogance and insults.

Amazing how the true believers who prostate themselves to the altar of the Big Government God somehow think that others are naive utopian dreamers.

Who – I’m still waiting for your answer about Marxism

Are you sure it was first_lefty that asked and not sumner, or pen_, or…

  85. Sumner401 says:

Its kind of fun watching firstefty and sumner and the other extreme liberals sweating as Nov 2nd butt kicking is coming their way.

It’s even more fun watching you far righties make things up, chase your tails over the latest GOP trumped up outrage! and make phony claims about the ‘socialist Marxist’ Democrats that aren’t ‘scared’ or worried about the election at all.

Now roncella can you for once answer a question that has been put to you?
    Or are you afraid to?

  86. Sumner401 says:

Why not say they hold different values and opinions then you do and leave it at that.

Thats a really good question roncella, why haven’t you been asking, sozo, larsamn, 3 pigs (especially) the new imjimwho Ispring aislander and many others?
You should count yourself in that list as well.
So how about it roncella, can you do as your female leaders are always saying and ‘man up’?

  87. Roncella says:

Sumner I told you some time ago to get your cryiing towel ready for your November 2 nd elections.

Even though you will be very diasppointed on tuesday understand this. Whats going to happen will actually help you and other Liberals and Progressives, Democrats.

Try not to become bitter and angry, just accept what happens as freedom in action, you be experiencing history in the making.

  88. Islander -The American people are being preyed upon by un-American corporations and their lapdog republican shrills.

Islander and Roncella – why do you think the republicans offer hope and change to the American People? The R’s have already stated many times that their one and only plan is to:

    1. go back to doing what they did under Bush ,
    tax cuts for the rich,
    de-regulation for big-business,
big government contracts for their corporate bosses, and
war and un-employment for the middle class,
    2. do anything they can to make Obama look bad regardless of how it hurts the American People.

  89. aislander says:

I’ll take a stab at that, Sumo. First of all, who’s trying to impose change on America? Answer: progressives have been trying to do that, occasionally for better, but much more often for worse, for the last hundred years or so. Obama even used the mantra of unspecified “change” as his campaign slogan. Are you saying that we conservatives just be “tolerant” and let you do it? Obviously, there is a difference between holding an opinion, and imposing that opinion on the country. Conservatives love America, but we also LIKE it and do not wish to see fundamental change imposed on our nation, unless that change involves repairing damage caused by progressives…

  90. Islander -The American people are being preyed upon by un-American corporations and their lapdog republican shrills.

Islander and Roncella – why do you think the republicans offer hope and change to the American People? The R’s have already stated many times that their one and only plan is to:

    de-regulation for big-business

    2. do anything they can to make Obama look bad regardless of how much it hurts the American People and our economy.

  91. aislander says:

Are you saying that corporations are behaving unfairly in the market, xring: that they are, in fact, manipulating it…

  92. FreeAmerica says:

Cmon Xring… way too much koolaid.

Tax cuts for the rich? The corporate tax rate is keeping money in foreign banks while it should be re-invested in America…yes lower taxes.

De-regulation for big business? You mean like the deregulation that our governess just stated is the only method to bring back small business?

Make Obama look bad? At citizens and economies expense?…
I think Obama has done that himself…. hence the Republican takeover.

If one thinks the Government can take care of them they are in fact living a fools dream. 99 weeks of unenjoyment and welfare is not what creates jobs or improves the economy…regardless of what Pelosi has told you.

Free market, smaller government, lower tax burden is the ONLY hope you have for a growing economy.

Hope and change was the Obama line…. Hope for change is why the country is voting on 11 / 2.

  93. xring, double posting nonsense doesn’t make it any more rational.

  94. Roncella says:

FreeAmerica, Your post says it all, great coments.

Xring, Back up and read FreeAmerica’s post, you might learn something about current affairs that would be helpful to you.

  95. beerBoy says:

ron Why ddescribe the folks who want change as Idiots ?

I feel the exact same way about the folks who voted for Obama thinking he was something he isn’t as the Tea folks who somehow think supporting the Republicans who have Pledged to return to the exact same policies that they had during the Bush years will make everything OkieDokie.

Voting for change is great IF the change is reality based and the change isn’t just a return to the same stuff that got us in this mess in the first place.

So yes….”idiot mob” is the correct term.

And…..I’m sure you are intelligent enough to know that describing the mob as idiot is not the same as describing the individuals as idiots. (hint: Think of how “mob mentality” is utilized.)

  96. beerBoy says:

2006 – displeased electorate dumps the Republican majority
2008 – displeased electorate dumps the Republican presidency
2010 – displeased electorate dumps the Democratic majority.

Neither Dem nor Repub partisans can really point to the electoral gains/losses as a long-term sign……except that the electorate still is slave to the Two Party System.

  97. A classic deflection of an ideologue is their ideology fails: claim that the guy they elected and rabidly supported wasn’t actually ideologically pure.

Unpleasantly eccentric ? You be the judge.

  98. insert >when between is and their.

    ;)

  99. beerBoy says:

thewho – I didn’t vote for Obama……did you vote for Bush?

  100. Just admit it bBoy, you let that old bugaboo slip out…you know, about how conservatives lack intelligence. Nice attempt at a save though.

  101. I have to say though, bBoy, I felt the same way when I saw the mob weeping with joy on the night of the 2008 election–something strange came over the masses during that campaign — perhaps just a longing for a superhero/savior, I’m not sure. I didn’t judge them as unintelligent, at least not the lot of them, just maybe consumed by a fantasy?

  102. Mr. Boy, did I say Obama? If I did, I was in error. (don’t think I did)

    :)

  103. Oh… the ‘but Bush’ obfuscation counter-accusation deflection is weak. ;)

  104. Sumner401 says:

you let that old bugaboo slip out…you know, about how conservatives lack intelligence.

News flash for you sozo, they DO lack intelligence, it’s been out there for a good long time now.

  105. FreeAmerica

“Tax cuts for the rich? “ As in cutting income tax rates for people making over $200,000. Never said anything about corporate taxes.

“corporate tax rate is keeping money in foreign banks while it should be re-invested in America” The money is there so the rich (see above for definition) can avoid paying income taxes on it.

“De-regulation for big business?” As in enforcing the business, health, and safety regulations that would have prevented the Wall Street Meltdown, the Credit/Lending Debacle, and the BP oil spill among others things.

“Make Obama look bad? At citizens and economies expense?” better check what your own party leaders are saying which is “Our number one goal is to make Obama a one term president.” That should be clear enough even for Tea Baggers to understand.

“99 weeks of unenjoyment and welfare” The reason we need both is because corporations are getting republican sponsored tax breaks to ship US jobs overseas. What would you do – Let them starve and lose their homes?

“Free market” as in getting a government contract because you’re a friend of Old Dick, or contributed money to the Bush/Cheney campaign?

” smaller government,” as in creating a new government agency to spy on American Citizens and starting two unnecessary wars?

“lower tax burden” which contributing to the Bush Debt.

“hope and change voting” Hope all you want but the only change the Republicans want is to return to the same failed 19th centuary Reagancomics that have created the mess that we are in right now.

  106. Roncella – the only thing FA’s rant taught me was that FA and you only read and repeat Right Wing talking points.

  107. patriot62 says:

If you liberals think that the conservatives are all so wrong, why don’t you donate all your money to the government? If you do this, all the things you find wrong with this country will go away. Poverty, sickness, disease, pollution, it will not exist. Then I will take my hard earned money and move elsewhere. Lets just divide America in half. You liberals can have the southern half and the rest of us will take the northern half. That way you can be with all your illegal (they won’t be illegal in your half) friends and rule your country the way you see fit and we will do the same with ours. I feel this solution will work for all involved. I believe we should start this now.

  108. theogsters says:

In his letter, Gary reminds us that Patty Murray, as a senior senator, “brings home the bacon”. She does indeed, and that means jobs for Washington State, whereas, Dino would be a disoriented newcomer walking the halls of congress without a clue. Thanks, Gary, you’ve made your point. I’ll be voting for Murray.

  109. Sumner401 says:

If you liberals think that the conservatives are all so wrong,

Name one thing they have done to help the working man.
Name one thing they have done that has worked, just one piece of legislation that has done what they claimed it was going to do.
    Name one spending cut.
name one act to reduce the size of Govt.

Why do you keep falling for their crap year after year?
At some point you HAVE to realize they are lying to you…..’liberals’ did that decades ago.

  110. FreeAmerica says:

    Sumner…..
Maybe…. its not what the Republicans would do, rather than what they wouldn’t let Obama pass.
