ELECTION: A campaign suggestion

Here’s a suggestion for politicians running for office: rather than pummeling voters with phone calls and littering the airways and roads with campaign advertising, why don’t you take some of the thousands of dollars you spend on these nuisances and put them to good use.

Instead of giving the money to the media and high priced PR firms, hire people who could use the money, let them scour the streets picking up litter and recyclables. They can bag it, slap on one of your campaign signs on which you could even add the comment “Already working for you”.

Then the day after election day, hire others to pick up the bags and recycle what they can and dispose of the rest. There is no need to thank me for this great idea because, after all, actions speak louder than words.
