With our state facing yet another deficit, voters should really take into consideration the financial consequence of voting for initiative 1100 or 1105.
After all expenses are paid the liquor control board makes a profit of roughly 322 million dollars a year which is put into the general fund. The money helps pay for law enforcement, fire fighters, prevention programs, and health care. In addition to that 18 percent of the profit goes directly to the local governments. Pierce County for example will receive roughly 7 million dollars from liquor sales.
Taking away this income away from the state would be absurd! We would see a rise in taxes and a cut in programs. Yes we would see cheaper liquor but in the end it is only going to be more expensive for us! That’s why you should vote no on initiative 1100 and 1105.
