ELECTION: The News Tribune’s Democratic bias showing

Letter by Ray Orlowski, Lacey on Oct. 18, 2010 at 2:29 pm with 23 Comments »

I noticed that The News Tribune has endorsed the Democrats on almost a two-to-one ratio for the upcoming election. That doesn’t surprise me since I strongly believe The News Tribune, like all of the major TV networks and most newspapers, has a liberal bias.

What surprises me is how in good consciousness your newspaper can endorse Patty Murray and Adam Smith. Both are part of the liberal political process that is taking this country into financial ruin and debt that we will never recover from.

You should be ashamed of yourself for letting your liberal bias cloud your judgment. I hope your readers remember this come election day.

No surprise here! – the leftist socialist anti-American rag referred to as the News Tribune has danced to the same tune for decades!!!

  2. writnstuff says:

You’re kidding right? This letter is tongue-in-cheek. It has to be. No one could really think that this financial crisis is a result of the current administration. No one could ignore two unfunded wars, a trillion dollar unfunded tax cut, and the various other legacy items from the previous administration.

  3. bobcat1a says:

Why is liberal bias bad but conservative bias is just fine? Most intelligent people have opinions; your bias is no more valid than any other.

  4. the3rdpigshouse says:

The U.S. has national & international problems that require a competent and pro-Ameerican government!!! There is no way in HE$% that a socialist democrat Congress led by an anti-American marxist/socialist, better known as “OH-Bummer”, is going to benefit our country in either arena!!

  5. LOL, I know many lefties who consider the TNT a Right Wing Rag.

  6. JungleBoy says:

As far as I’m concerned, the News Tribune is wasting ink whenever it endorses a candidate. I could care less what the TNT staff thinks – and for them to think otherwise is either naive or arrogant.

  7. You’re kidding, right? The TNT is definitely not a “liberal rag.” I guarantee you that those who have political leanings in the opposite direction than you definitely don’t feel like it is a mouthpiece for the progressive agenda.

Editorials endorsing GOP candidates/positions in past couple days –

LOL, cut, saved, and pasted the next time you denigrate FOX News.

  9. FreeAmerica says:

So much for the great hope and change campaign of Obama….. Promising to bring America together and actually driving us apart.

TNT should just leave the endorsements to somebody else and stick to reporting facts on candidates without bias…Is it possible?

Any endorsement, right or left and somebody is upset.

  10. Closed circle logic: “I believe that all media outlets have a liberal bias so I see a liberal bias in their endorsements”

Dude – if you want a paper that doesn’t have a liberal bias in their endorsements – read papers that serve a conservative clientele like Spokane or, even more, papers in Idaho. The Puget Sound is the liberal part of WA – why would you think that a paper in Tacoma should have a conservative bias?

  11. FreeAmerica says:

BBoy is correct….expecting media to curtail to outside readership views would be suicide…….
Leaving outside views to the forum is appreciated…agree or not.

Always wondered why some can’t change the station???
PS…Morning Joe…my favorite morning opinion show.

  12. Well since both sides hate the TNT it must be fair and balenced.

  13. FreeAmerica says:

    I don’t hate the TNT….think its a great read…biased or not.

Of course I’m not of the norm…. I watch the liberal media to see what the mindset and talking points are for the day.

But FOX is entertainment, not media, starting with Glenn Beck who describes himself as a rodeo clown http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/30/business/media/30beck.html?_r=1

Colbert has O’Reilly nailed – Bill O is a parody of himself.

Hannity is the salesman of the group who Christine O’Donnell says is “in her pocket”.

Then there is the trio – Fox and Friends (interesting that one is a good looking blonde? A real women’s show, huh?)

Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Lonesome Mike Huckabee and his band…..

FOX should have stuck with American Idol and left the news to real journalists.

  15. OldLefty says:

    Now – endorsements.

Newspapers have been doing them for centuries.

McClatchey, as a company, is about as liberal as Dick Cheney. Ask the five unions that used to represent their employees.

Endorsements are decided by a board, based on interviews. In depth reporting – what a concept!

  16. Sumner401 says:

No one could really think that this financial crisis is a result of the current administration. No one could ignore two unfunded wars, a trillion dollar unfunded tax cut, and the various other legacy items from the previous administration.

You could and do if you only listen to what you want to hear and believe the propaganda put out by your party of choice, no matter the truth or facts.
The phrase ‘drink the koolaid’ was coined for people like that.

  17. OldLefty says:

    Oh and Ray…..

“What surprises me is how in good consciousness your newspaper can endorse Patty Murray and Adam Smith. Both are part of the liberal political process that is taking this country into financial ruin and debt that we will never recover from.”

Since 1995, the Republicans controlled Congress until 2007, that’s 12 years of Murray’s service and 10 years of Smith’s. In other words, the majority of time they served, both were in the minority without much control on debt and budget.

Nice try on the GOP talking point, though.

  18. 99% of press endorsement are for incumbants. (Fear of retalliation). If by chance the challenger gets in, he or she is not upset as they know they will get endorsed next time around.

  19. fanciladi says:

You are SO correct, Ray…LEFT leaning BIAS is the truth and none of us should be surprised! Thankfully they aren’t as bad as SOME papers in the country…but, when they run the articles from those papers…LEFT BIAS is what we get big time!

  20. menopaws says:

Every time I hear someone rail about the “liberal” media bias, I just laugh…….The press helped George Junior put us in a war we had NO business fighting in Iraq..American lives and American dollars were thrown down a sinkhole by a bunch of right-wingers…..So, let’s be very clear here…..I applaud any media that doesn’t roll over and play dead to the conservative agenda……How many times do people need to be lied to before it dawns on them they are being played? The truth shall set you free……..not Halliburton, BP, AIG and the Wall Street crowd…..They are spending a fortune to elect their well-paid for buddies these days……The TNT is performing a public service here.

  21. OH Great!! Old Lefty and Sumner have found this “letter to the editor” that they don’t like! Prepare to read nonsense from them NUMEROUS times! I’ll put money that they will reply to this post and say nonsense…they might call me a “talking point for the right”, or maybe, just maybe they might ignore this post but I highly doubt it!

  22. fanciladi says:

“How many times do people need to be lied to before it dawns on them they are being played?”

Why don’t you ask Obama? He’s probably lost count by now…….
