ELECTION: Patty Murray’s part of the problem

Re: Endorsement of Patty Murray (editorial, 10-10).

You must be kidding! While I don’t find much to like in Dino Rossi, Patty must go. For 18 years she has been part of the problem leading to our massive debts, absurd situations, political correctness run amok and the most angry and distrustful electorate in American history.

As you point out, she has “made a career” of her political life. This needs to be stopped, as do so many other things these politicians have created for themselves, such as special retirement and health plans. And how did they ever get away with arranging it so that they don’t even have to follow the very laws they made for us?

Alas, we have none to blame but ourselves. We have allowed this one step at a time, and your endorsement citing her bringing home the money is a prime example of the myopic and short term justification that has gotten us all to this point.

Agree…she has made a career out of ‘serving’ the people of WA State but there is really only one from WA State she is ‘serving’ the most and that is Patty Murray!

  2. I met Dino Rossi Monday night and I must say he is smart, direct, honest and just who we need to represent us. Basically, he is everything Patty Murray is not.

  3. BSR – rossi is also able to fool the weak minded in to thanking he wants to help them.

  4. absurd situations, political correctness run amok

I have heard of straw man argument but straw issues…..

Actually Lee – your statement that you are going to vote for Dino in spite of saying “I don’t find much to like in Dino Rossi” demonstrates where that finger of blame should be pointing – at you and other voters who continue to support the two-party monopoly of the less-bad choices.

    Yeah…..sure

    From the Seattle Times –

Tim Keating, Boeing’s senior vice president for government operations, said Murray played “a critical role” in getting the Northrop-EADS contract overturned.
Keating said Murray, one of Boeing’s most influential benefactors in Congress, early on advised the company to contest the Air Force’s decision, something the aerospace giant hadn’t done with a federal contract in three decades. Murray also kept after the tanker issue on the Senate floor, in hearings and in letters to Pentagon and administration officials.

One more that didn’t really pay attention.

During the 18 years that Murray has served, 2/3 has been under Republican control of the budget.

Political correctness run amok???? I thought that polical correctness was just “good manners”.

We can’t have too much of that “good manners” stuff, now, can we?
