ELECTION: Patty Murray equals financial disaster

I’m appalled by your endorsement of Patty Murray, in part because of “her ability to fight for important state, regional and local projects” – in other words, pork.

Let me see if I understand you. We are a country on the precipice of financial disaster and you want someone who makes sure that we get our portion of the spending that puts us over the edge.

Our politicians, Democrat and Republican alike, have neglected their duty to be wise stewards of public money; our bankrupt Social Security system as a case in point. Instead of plugging holes in this sinking ship, Murray bores a new hole and titles this one “health care reform” and does so against public will.

A good leader combines his or her compassion for people with financial due diligence. A bad one neglects the commitments our government made to its citizens in the past and propagates new commitments they can’t afford and don’t want.

Make no mistake about it, this country is headed for financial disaster. Patty Murray is one of many who helped put us on this path, she is certainly not one who is capable of changing our direction.
