PUYALLUP: Street repairs poorly done

Puyallup resurfaced 21st Street Northwest for the first time since 1970. The street looked better after the job was done, however it was a poor job. The manholes were not finished off properly, so they need to be avoided.

About a week after resurfacing, the city dug up a large chunk to fix a leak. That repair was poorly done. Another sinkhole is developing further north. Now, they are digging up half of the street to install a new sewer line. The street will be worse than it was two years ago before resurfacing.

Drive over the railroad tracks on Third Street Southeast, Fourth Street Northwest, 12st Street Southwest or on Meridian. The last time the track crossings were redone, they’ve been like a roller coaster, so rough you don’t dare go over them in excess of 10 mph. My wife is disabled and rides the Pierce Transit Shuttle and they hate going over the tracks. I do, too!

You should see the other streets they “fog seal.” What a laugh.

The city has agreed to let the train travel 60 mph through town. Now, that’s exciting! Watch your kids.

My home value dropped $55,500 over the past two years (after a three-year $125,000 jump which put my “estimated value” about $40,000 over actual). My value went down $42,000 over the past year. Yet my property tax has gone up year after year regardless.
